Isle of Wight Sandown (Merrie Gardens) hotel

The location of the hotel is excellent for those with a car. Supermarket and eating places within close walking distance. Staff were all very approachable and friendly. Room was fine with a comfortable bed. Bathroom was a bit dated.Shower over the bath would need a hand rail for less mobile and shower soap dispenser did not function well. the toilet seat was loose. No real complaints, however. Good breakfast and, overall, a good value hotel.

Perfect Location. Room was a good size. We stayed for 4 nights we were told if we wanted our rooms cleaned just tell reception. Also any restocking just let reception know eg towels toilet paper. Tea and coffee sachets were at reception to take upto your room to restock your supplies. We had Breakfast at the hotel plenty of choices I had an issue with the coffee machine,the lattes just seemed to be hot frothy milk and water this happened a couple of times. I just opted for a black coffee which wasn't too bad. We had dinner at Merrie Gardens pub just across the road they serve lovely meals and the staff are lovely. There's a Morrisons and Aldi nearby which is very convenient. There's also a KFC next door which didn't make a noise disturbance. The blackout curtains in the room were very efficient and the AC worked perfectly. The staff were lovely and there was always someone on hand if you needed them. We didn't have a car it was about a mile and a half walk to Shanklin station which is fine for us. There are cabs available but booking in advance is advisable, not too badly priced either. All in all we enjoyed our visit will definitely stay again at this hotel.

Had such a lovely long weekend at this hotel, all the staff (Dan & Harley were exceptional, so helpful) although whomever we came across were so helpful and friendly. The bed was incredibly comfortable, great location with onsite parking. Would not hesitate to come back again - we highly recommend this hotel.

Nice hotel, nice friendly staff, comfy bed, free parking, good experience, lots of parking available, good area for shops, Morrisons, KFC, Aldi, restaurant not much of a walk to get to, very handy, ideal really

I was on business on the IOW and stayed at the Merrie Gardens over the course of 5 weeks. It was the perfect place to stay for me as it was very comfortable and quiet and most importantly I got a good night’s sleep. Also, I was upgraded one week to a Premier Plus room, which I fully recommend for the little extras which make your stay even more restful with a touch of luxury. The staff are friendly and welcoming and Dan and Waqar were most helpful.
