"Nice hotel, few flaws, nice breakfast"
We had an overall fair stay in this hotel with few issues. On arrival, my travel companion and I checked in very smoothly and were given our keys to our rooms. My companion entered her room and immediately noticed that the bed was dirty and un-made it looked like someone was lying in it and that the curtains weren’t pulled back. The room had a horrible smell as well as this. The issue was reported immediately and the fantastic John helped us straight away by giving her a new room and complimentary breakfast which we were so grateful for and apologised profusely. He was very helpful and kind. Another issue was in my room, there were 2 odd looking stains which I reported in the morning to reception. Tracey sorted this out straight away for me and told me that the bed sheets were frayed and it wasn’t actually a stain which relieved me. Another problem we encountered was that the air conditioning in one of the rooms was constantly blowing cold air which made the room uncomfortably cold, someone was informed and they looked at it while we were out but, the issue was not fixed and there was no warm air. I went down to asked again and a guy working said he would mention it to his colleague and call up to the room but nobody came. My toothpaste was also taken from my room when it was cleaned and I had to wake up my travel companion while she was asleep to get some. Breakfast was good, all you can eat! They did say that they were having trouble with housekeeping which is fair that there may have been issues because of that. Overall the staff, particularly John & Tracey were very kind and helpful and the hotel is central in the town in a great location with M&S on their front door.

"High expectations, Grim reality."
Cleanliness of the room was poor and improvement of staff being more prompt with our needs.
Room smelt stale and damp on arrival, on inspection found the bathroom had mould along behind the bath taps, bath corner and the grout.
Shower head was black as well with scale? Is there any form of disinfecting maintenance carried out at the premises i.e disinfecting shower heads?
Tested the extractor and that didn't work.
Had half a roll of toilet paper in the bathroom, and had to ask twice before we were given extra toilet roll.
Towels supplied were threadbare compared to other Premier Inn's.
On leaving we moved the curtains back and found the window was black with mould on each corner and furry white mould growing.
By the door to the room there were stains and also hair on the walls.
We used the toilet down at reception and found the toilet roll was left on the floor for patron's to use and not stored in the the dispenser. Is this the normal standards at the Premier Inn Douglas?
Out of all the Premier Inn's we've stayed over the years, this is by far the worst and we won't be entertaining the idea again either.

"Exactly what you need if you're staying in Douglas."
I had to travel to the Isle of Man twice in the space of 3 weeks. My first visit was booked hastily and I stayed at the Empress for a few days. I found the Empress to be a little run down and location wise a little inconvenient if you wanted to walk into the main shopping / eating area in Douglas.
As such for my second trip I booked the Premier Inn, simply because it looked like it was updated and had more modern amenities which I found lacking at the Empress.
Overall it was great. There were a couple of issues with my room, one of the issues was down to a mistake I made when booking, the other was a room issue. The staff couldn't have been more helpful in resolving it for me and managed to move me to a different room, and did it while remaining friendly and helpful.
The room was a good size and had all the modern conveniences you would need. Better to have a more modern climate control system in the room vs having older Radiator's like the other hotel I stayed at.
I'd recommend paying a little extra and getting the breakfast. It's nice and convenient to have it downstairs and honestly if you're an early riser like me it's tough to get Coffee and Breakfast anywhere in Douglas before 8am. Food was good quality and I think it cost me 4 GBP extra per night which I consider a bargain.
Location is great to walk into town or even the Ferry Terminal. if you have a car, parking is a pain in the butt and you either have to pay for a multi storey car park close by, or navigate the Parking system along the promenade. But a minor inconvenience.
Value wise it also came in a little less than most of the other hotels. If I came back to the Island again this would be my choice to stay at. Recommended.
