"Hospitality was great Darren the manager was our host when we arrived"
Lovely stay as usual. Darren the manager in the restaurant/bar was great, excellent service anything myself and partner needed he was so helpful. Darren was so polite when we arrived he allowed us to sit inside even though he was closing breakfast and setting up for the rest of the day
    "Always a fantastic stay"
Weve stayed a few times, but not since the restaurant changes. We were skeptical at first, but The Social is actually a lovely place. Very warm and welcoming, decor is smart, plus Darren the manager is fantastic and super helpful and friendly. Rooms are basic but has everything you need, we were lucky to have a room with a lovely big shower and was spot on. Everywhere is very clean and all staff we encountered, including the chef are so attentive and helpful. Highly recommend! Thank you for a lovely stay as always x
    "Helpful team"
Staff extremely helpful on the late night check in. Darren (from the social) offering service above and beyond. Thanks
    "Disgusting bathroom!"
Very disappointing stay. The only positives were the location near the train station and a comfortable bed. The negatives: a damp, foul-smelling bathroom with no ventilation or working fan (which meant rusted chrome finishings in the bathroom, peeling paint, disgusting smell seeping in the room); no in-room safe; stifling heat with just one small fan; an average, limited breakfast; and a double charge (once via Expedia, once at check-in) with no response from the property when we tried to resolve it. Overall, we couldn’t wait to check out.
    "Think again"
We've stayed here a few times but were very disappointed this time. Our room this time was next to the railway (main line) which meant you couldn't have the window open. They did, thankfully, provide a fan though which was well needed. The room was clean but the communal areas were dated. Our issue was with breakfast. We arrived at 9am and was asked if we had booked a table. We hadn't as we've never booked a table for breakfast at a PI. It was clear that the breakfast area is way too small for the amount of rooms at the hotel. It's disappointing that we hadn't been told by the Receptionist that a reservation was required when we checked in. As we were told the wait was 30 mins, we chose to get a refund. On making our complaint, we were told that you don't need to reserve a table. Instead the issue is that the breakfast items are now baked rather than being grilled and fried so everything takes a lot longer to cook. Either way, the dining room is too small to cater for the number of guests, communication is poor and, if your room is next to the railway, it is noisy.
