"Superb hotel for Harry Potter Studio Tour. Restaurant is hit and miss."

We booked this hotel as it was the closest Premier Inn with air conditioning to the Harry Potter Warner studio tour. I'm so glad we did as it was around 30 degrees outside but the rooms were super cool! It only took us 15 minutes to reach the studio tour so it does make it the perfect hotel to stay at, especially as it's near the A41 for great transport links, but still really quiet and relaxed. The rooms were the newer rooms with the modern decor and the led lighting and we really can't fault it. The beds were comfortable and the most important thing for us was that they have interconnecting rooms meaning our family of 8 could all stay together. The staff couldn't have been more helpful and I recommend this hotel to anyone, especially as we were able to get it for £30 per room by booking a few weeks in advance. The Beefeater restaurant next door was hit and miss. We had lunch there and found the food dry and over priced, but the staff were very accomodating. Come breakfast time, we were turned away and asked to come back in 30 mins as 2 other large parties had just come in. Walking through the restaurant we saw there were only a handful of people actually in there. Very poor if they can't cope with a few people. We have been to other Premier Inn/Beefeater breakfasts before and they are always happy to sit you down, even if there is a delay, but ask invite you to help yourself to continental in the meantime. When we did come back and get seated the breakfast was very good especially with the kids eat free offer. As this is a review of the Premier Inn and not the Beefeater, I'll give this 5/5 but the restaurant only 2/5.

"Travelling with toddlers"

Well appointed room, air con, clean bathroom, comfortable beds, everything thought about re plugs and mirrors and all the things a busy family needs. Excellent breakfasts and good quality child friendly meals (not just nuggets and chips!) next door at the beefeater with a large garden and play area. 5 mins from Tring town centre and perfectly located for our family wedding. Check in and out was quick with a convenient check out time of 12. Didn’t award 5 stars because of no facilities to heat or store baby bottles. A small fridge and a maybe a communal microwave would make this place perfect.

"Wouldn’t stay here again"

The premier in itself was ok but the Beefeater attaches was appalling. Service was dreadful, range and quality of food at breakfast was really bad. Felt very unwelcome when entering the Beedeater and would never recommend it to anyone.

"Great sleeping, very poor restaurant!"

The bedrooms and the staff who ran this side were excellent, clean and well presented. The restaurant side was dirty and in need of a good clean. These staff were too busy chatting and laughing to pay attention to their customers. Food was of poor quality and cold. Not a venue to recommend.

"Glorified Motel"

A few things meant this stay wasn't a normal 4/5 Premier Inn stay. We arrived late but having checked in online that wasn't a problem. We went straight to bed but then found there weren't spare pillows and we didn't have a choice - there were only three thin pillows in the room. So one of us had to 'improvise' that night, it really was too late to get dressed and go back to reception. Then in the morning there weren't enough coffee sachets for both of us and not enough milk cartons. Yeah....first world problems, I know - but if Premier Inn really is so good then these are the basics of prepping a room. Reception sorted things out in the morning and sordered us a taxi - very friendly, helpful and efficient. However, the room size is pretty poor for the prices charged. It's probably the smallest Premier Inn room I've stayed in and it felt more like a roadstop motel! If I'd paid £80-90 a nigh for it I would have thought it was very good value but at around £120 a night it's not unreasonable to expect better at a limited service hotel. We did though have a good night's sleep on both nights - that's something that PI seem to get right every time. So - friendly service, fairly poor value and some basics not right. Not the usual 4 out of 5 I'm afraid.

Learn all about animals at Tring Natural History Museum, then get face to face with them at Whipsnade Zoo. Don your boots for an afternoon's stomp along the ancient Ridgeway. Then bed.
