Stevenage Central hotel

We stayed one night as a couple as we were attending a nearby family function. The staff on arrival were very nice. We had a drink in the bar before going out which was fine but expensive as expected. The chairs in the bar are filthy! The arm rests have not been cleaned in goodness know how long absolutely disgusting to look at and I wouldn’t want to touch them. The room smelt strongly of harsh cleaning chemicals which was very unpleasant. The bed was very hard and uncomfortable as were the pillows. I couldn’t turn off the strip light above the bed which was bright and like being in some kind of strip club!! With no phone in the room I had to ring down to reception on my mobile, which didn’t work as the WiFi wasn’t working properly. I had to go down in the middle of the night in my pyjamas and the man on reception had no idea how to turn off the lights. He told me to take out the key card which if I did that I would have been left with no lights at all to use the bathroom. Having mobility issues due to stage 4 cancer it would be impossible for me to use the room with no lights. I subsequently had no sleep due to the light and the smell and how uncomfortable the bed was. I am not sure what had happened to premier inn as stays used to be basic but comfortable and pleasant this was absolutely not a nice stay and expensive as well.

A lovely night and the perfect breakfast! Minor issues (one lift not working , squeaky bathroom door and the door in the corridor not closing very quietly) but none upset our stay!

Oh my God....(Literally) The lady that greeted me on the reception...Firstly her name is 'LIANNE' She greeted me with the biggest smile, and made me feel like she's known me for years. Her customer service is ABSOLUTELY top notch, and 2nd to none. It was quite late in the day, and she still pulled out that golden level of customer service. Her communication was absolutely crystal clear and she sounded like she cared about the comfort and convenience of my stay. When I pushed her further as to the reason why she was so pleasant, attentive, polite and accommodating at this time of night, she looked deep into my soul...and said these words "I LOVE MY JOB" thank you for your great customer service. You're an absolute asset to the company and the brand from ELVIS CHAMBERS

Ive been regularly staying at this hotel through work commitments and alexia has stood out amazingly to me and welcoming always making sure that we are happy with our stay also tara was an absolute star on reception and made sure I had everything I needed

Drastically understaffed. We had booked a twin room but got a double & a single - ok but the single wasn't made up. Only one set of towels in bathroom. On both evenings both Daniel & Lisa worked sooo hard. They manned reception, manned the bar and worked in the restaurant - all with a smile. They deserve a special mention. Very unprofessional when several people were waiting to check in. The breakfast bar was not fully stocked on both days - Sunday was worse. My friend ordered hard boiled eggs and they were runny. Next day ordered scrambled eggs but never got them ! No mugs for tea/coffee on Sunday. Fruit flies around the fruit bowls on both days. A customer was going to have fruit but when he saw the flies he put his bowl back! Not enough cutlery on tables on Sunday. A straw on the floor near the till on Sunday was there the day before.
