"check the bathroom out before you get settled as its not as clean as you 1st think"
receptionist on check in at 1730hrs Saturday the 23rd or August was fantastic. He was very polite, informative, and helpful. That i would like to make clear. The room on the other hand was disapointing. A large brown stain on the carpet just outside the toilet door makes you wonder just what it is. The walls were all covered in marks and the side tables were dusty and the laminate was peeling away. The bathroom looked clean from the door but that soon changed when you went in. The floor had old water marks just clearly seen with the door open around the door and behind it. There was also a nasty white limescale stain around the base of the toilet bowl. The bath wall grouting was turning black from lack of cleaning. The taps clearly hadn't been cleaned. The base of the shower pole was thick grime. The tap outlet had thick limescale on it. The overflow was surrounded with grime. Bin was covered in dust and waterstains, and the underside of the towel rail was rusty. I was under the impression that Premier Inn pride themselves on their clean rooms but clearly not this hotel, or rather not the housekeeping who clean it. The hotel was fully booked according to the reception so it was not possible to move rooms. needless to say, i was just a shower for me even though I was looking forward to a nice relaxing bath after a 4 hour drive to get there.
"Rip off parking charges apply - beware!"
Has anyone else had the same experience as my partner and I had after staying at the Premier Inn, Stevenage Central? Arrived after a friend's funeral and parked right in front of reception. The two chaps on reception were very helpful in checking us in, but at no point did anyone mention that we were expected to log our vehicle details on "a tablet at reception desk". Result was a "Parking Charge" notification received two weeks later. If we had known - or if anyone had bothered to mention that this procedure was necessary - we could have easily complied and avoided the fine. Rather spoiled our otherwise enjoyable stay! It should be part of the checking in process, surely, as in so many other hotels that we have stayed in? Needless to say, we will not be using Premier Inns again. And trying to contact them after the event is impossibe, phone calls result in an automated "we-avoid-speaking-with-you-at-all-costs" system which keeps you hanging on for ages before cutting you off, this happened five times in a row. And the phone number dispayed on the Tripadvisor page for this hotel in unobtainable! Any similar experiences?
    "Best Hotel in Stevenage"
Such a lovely and clean hotel, but what really makes it is the team!!! Liane, Tee, Ben, Hayley and all the rest of the team, really treat you as a guest not just a number. There are around 57 hotels in Stevenage and Heartfidshire. I will never ever stay anywhere else!!! I love this place and come every three months. Cant wait for my next visit!!!
"Okay for a brief stay but a bit spartan compared to other Premier Inns."
A bit of a mixed bag. The hotel is conveniently situated, the best was very comfortable, parking was good, whilst the staff were very friendly. On the downside, the shower in my room was very antiquated poor - I couldn't get it to work on the 1st day I was there although did eventually get it to work on the 2nd day after a few attempts. The evening menu was also extremely limited - there were only 6 main meals, the majority of which I didn't care for. I had the lasagne on the first night which wasn't great - there was very little meat and a lot of grit in it, but the fish and chips I had on the 2nd night was actually very good and tasty. The deserts I had were nice enough. It is probably the most spartan Premier Inn I've every stayed at - it could do with some modernisation.
    "Great overnight stay"
After a long day house clearing it was nice to have a nice shower in a clean room . I had a good comfortable sleep . Hayley in reception was very kind and friendly. In the morning Hayley was whizzing around from reception to booking people in for breakfast to the kitchen and helping guests with the coffee machine . She is a bonus to the hotel .
