"Disappointing stay made worse by poor customer service afterwards"
We stayed at the Rickmansworth Premier Inn for two nights (4–6 July) while attending a family wedding nearby. Unfortunately, this was one of the most disappointing Premier Inn stays we've had.
We arrived late on the Saturday evening and were surprised by how small our family room was. We've stayed in many Premier Inns over the years, but this room was significantly smaller than we expected. More concerning was that the room and even the bedding felt damp throughout our stay.
From our own observations, the bathroom extractor fan appeared to be ineffective. Because the windows couldn't be opened, the steam from the shower had nowhere to escape, leaving the room feeling damp and uncomfortable.
On our final morning, we were also woken by a very strong smell of bleach or chlorine coming through the ventilation system. The smell was overpowering and far from the relaxing end to our stay that we had hoped for.
As we arrived late on the first night and had to be up early for a wedding, we didn't report the issues immediately. We returned late again on the Sunday evening and my partner raised our concerns with reception before we checked out on the Monday morning. The staff were polite and apologetic, but no practical solution was offered.
What disappointed me most, however, was how the complaint was handled afterwards. After submitting a complaint to Guest Relations, I had to chase for an update because nobody contacted me within the timescale they had stated. Eventually, Premier Inn offered a £53 goodwill refund, but only in relation to the bleach smell, arguing that the hotel hadn't been given the opportunity to rectify the other issues earlier. This overlooked the fact that the problems had already affected our stay by the time they were reported and that no alternative room was offered.
Premier Inn promotes its Good Night Guarantee, but sadly that wasn't our experience. A room that felt damp throughout our stay, bedding that also felt damp, an ineffective bathroom extractor fan and being woken by a strong chemical smell is the complete opposite of the comfortable night's sleep the guarantee is intended to provide.
I've always considered Premier Inn to be a reliable brand offering good value, which is why this experience was so disappointing. Problems can happen in any hotel, but it's how they're resolved that leaves the lasting impression. Sadly, on this occasion, both the stay itself and the way the complaint was handled have left me questioning whether I'll choose Premier Inn again in the future.

"Disappointing 2 nights stay"
Awful spray tap and shower (sprayed in all direction but me!), very poor water flow. almost like dry cleaning!
Poor water quality, a layer of what seems to be fat or oil on top of your tea or coffee, not suitable for human consumption, no water bottle in the room, you need to take some with you!
Room was not cleaned everyday, apparently you need to ask or they will not even empty the bin or give you tea or coffee!!
Food order at 8:30 pm was refused even though last order was 9pm, the reason given was the chef was going to be busy cleaning the kitchen.
AC could not be adjusted, may be broken.
Very poor experience at a high price, not good value for money.

"A good place for a great sleep"
Of course it’s not perfect - it’s £100 a night. But it’s so comfortable, so practical and very relaxing. The bed was great, the bathroom clean and well maintained and the service is ok! The air conditioning is very welcome and the location is lovely with the canals nearby and the great White Bear a few minutes walk away. I was in the Croxley Premier Inn last night and the experience is totally different. This is so much nicer, more peaceful and more comfortable.

An overall great experience at the Premier Inn Rickmansworth. Very helpful and friendly staff, great bedroom and bathroom facilities, very good breakfasts and a great location to travel into Central London from.
