South Mimms/Potters Bar hotel

Great stay. Friendly and helpful staff, clean rooms, comfortable beds and good parking. Close to A1/M25 junction for easy driving. Close enough for a short drive to nearby tube or train stations to get into London. Would highly recommend.

We stayed in a family room and took my parents on our trip; this was their first experience of a Premier Inn. I was a little embarrassed that they stayed in South Mimms/Potters Bar Premier Inn as their first one; the place is looking tired . The rooms were ok (apart from being kept awake due to someone having loud sex at night and in the morning!). Bed was comfy, shower was good, although we usually get a bath when staying in a family room so the kids were disappointed. After a long day, we returned back to eat. Booked our tables for 20:30/20:45 and arrived just after. Ordering wasn’t easy due to waiter not fully understanding, drinks took almost as long as the food to arrive which was around 45mins. The restaurant wasn’t busy at that point but only one/two staff rushing around trying to do everything. Food arrived and it was ok, kids had 2 courses and it was nearly 10pm by they time their dessert arrived. We had to chase this twice and was walking out of the restaurant when then brought it out. Breakfast was good, can’t fault that really. Restaurant wasn’t the cleanest; foot still on floor from previous night. But the food and drinks were fine. All in all, a bit tired and run down and could benefit from additional staff for food and drink service or a little more customer interaction training. Car park could do with a litter pick.

Our stay had some positives, but several areas need improvement. The staff at check in were friendly and the process was quick and straightforward, which we appreciated. However, the room had a noticeable musty smell that made it feel less clean than expected, and both my partner and I woke up with sore throats the next morning. Opening the window only helped temporarily, as the smell returned once it was closed. The reception area also had an unpleasant toilet like odour, which was particularly off putting given its location next to the food venue, and it discouraged us from eating there. We also experienced quite a bit of noise during the night and early morning, which affected our rest. Additionally, the parking charges felt very high for the overall standard of the stay. There were aspects of the hotel that were as expected but unfortunately due to the above reasons I wouldnt be rushing to stay again anytime soon.

I had to spend a few weeks at Premier Inn and I was really impressed by the professionalism of the employees there.I would like to say thank you in particular to Karen,Rebecca,Ed,Amira,Nachez,Rachel and Mohammed.They really went out of their way to make my stay enjoyable and I would like Management to recognize this in some form.They we’re brilliant and will be the reason I choose Premier Inn jn the future.
