"First experience of a Premier Plus room - not recommended!"
This review is all about my experience of the new Premier Plus rooms. I’ve stayed in lots of Premier Inns (although prefer IHG and Hilton because of the points). However, I’ve never stayed in a Premier Plus room before so I was intrigued to try it. It was expensive at just shy of £200 a night without dinner. So, these rooms have obviously been designed by someone who rarely stays in hotels! (I’m at 132 nights this year, so far). The major annoyances with the regular rooms haven’t been addressed: 1. There’s still no heated towel rail 2. There’s still no electric / anti misting mirror 3. There’s still no soft closing loo seat Instead, some additional annoyances have been introduced: 1. There’s no instant coffee (one has to go and get it) 2. There’s nowhere to put a large suitcase. In regular rooms the sofa bed is perfect but in the Premier Plus room I ended up sharing the bed with it! 3. The ironing board takes up most of the space in the little wardrobe making it difficult to hang up shirts 4. The new glass shower door means one gets soaked with cold water turning on the shower, rather than the protective shower curtain in the regular rooms The changes are largely cosmetic. The arm chair and stool look great but I didn’t use it; the upscale coffee machine will be popular with many guests but I didn’t use it; the decor, linens and artwork is much nicer. The mineral water, fridge and upscale toiletries are great and the redeeming features. Would I pay extra for a Premium Plus room again? No, absolutely not. This is all against the backdrop of a wonderfully run hotel with great staff and better than average evening food. It pains me to leave an honest review of the Premier Plus rooms but ‘buyer beware’.
"The best Premier Inn I've stayed in!"
You always know you'll get clean towels, sheets and a comfy bed at a Premier Inn (and if they have been refurbished, all the better) but the reason this hotel gets five stars from me was because of the staff. We stayed two nights (in room 202) and from check-in, to dinner one night (my veggie burger was delicious), to breakfast both days (also tasty) and check out, the team (Laura, Sharon and Alison in particular) were lovely. They went above and beyond to make sure our stay was the best it could be. This was five star customer service. The whole team are a credit to Premier Inn.
"Short visit to Hereford"
Very well sited hotel for the city centre. Clean and tidy Walkable (level walk) from the railway station. Laura was very helpful in answering a few questions and sourcing an iron immediately after checking in. Nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was cooked to order on my visit and was of good quality.
"Good location"
This is a relatively new Premier Inn right next to a new shopping centre, restaurants and cinema in the heart of Hereford. It’s also next to the football ground in Edgar Street. The Premier Plus room was very nice with a fridge. Breakfast was great, and there was plenty of car parking in an open car park at the back of the hotel even though we arrived quite late and it was first come first served. It cost £7 to park the car. I didn’t explore the car park over the road, but there’s a lot more parking in the shopping centre. It’s just a fifteen minute walk across the shopping centre to the cathedral etc, and this is a very nice place to explore. Recommended.
"Reliable Hotel"
We chose this hotel for its central Hereford location and because there was on-site car parking. When we arrived, the staff member on duty was already checking in another customer and so we started the self-service check in. As soon as the staff member finished with his clients, he came to assist us. We had a Premier room which was on the top floor at the end of a corridor. It was clean and had all the usual facilities. Our sleep was good, the heavy blackout curtains keeping the room dark and we were not troubled by noise – either from outside or from within the hotel. The water pressure in the shower was joyous. On this occasion, we didn't use the restaurant and so I can't comment on the quality of its offerings. Overall, this Premier Inn provided precisely what we needed without fuss or bother.
