Winchester hotel

I checked into Premier Inn Winchester on 11th August and was assigned Room 215. I opted for an early check-in at approximately 1:00pm. At 3:00pm I noticed that water was not draining from the bathroom sink. By 5:00pm the water remained stagnant in the sink with no drainage. I reported the issue to reception at 17:30 to a member of staff named Raj. I was informed that the matter could not be addressed until 9:00am the following morning when maintenance would be available. Raj advised that if a cancellation occurred I could be moved to another room, however no alternative accommodation was available at the time. I requested a plunger and attempted to clear the blockage myself, but this was not effective and the water continues to remain stagnant in the sink. I would appreciate it if this could be rectified as soon as possible, as I checked in earlier today and I am concerned that this has not been reported or logged properly

Lovely premier inn service and room. Staff were helpful in explaining where the city was. Good location for exploring. It was a 10 min walk into the city with a walk along the river included. Breakfast was good and managed well. A lovely stay was had for our one night stay.

The good............. very comfortable, quiet room. Efficient air conditioning and a lovely comfortable bed and good quality bed linen. The bad.............. Very poor reception on arrival at 3 pm. A member of staff (I presume - although he wasn't wearing the company attire) was sat behind the reception desk and said nothing as we went through the self-service check-in. No greeting, no welcome, no help offered with the check-in............absolutely nothing!! We were both struck by how poor that was..........we are generally very impressed with Premier Inn staff. This "welcome" fell way short of their usual standards. There was a hole in one of the towels and whiteish paint splashes over the headboard which looked unsightly.

Pleased to see that the car parking was less than advertised on the website. Food in the restaurant was ok but not brilliant. Mushrooms for breakfast could have been cooked better and scrambled egg lacked flavour. I should have expected that a Premier Plus room should have had a shower mat as standard rather that have to ask for one at Reception, because without one, the shower tray is lethal. It would be nice to have heated mirrors in the bathroom as it virtually impossible to see oneself after having a shower. The room itself (333) is in need of a bit of redecoration and the grey walls are rather bland and somewhat depressing. The carpet displayed evidence of spills/deposits and could do with a cleaning.

This is a great Premier Inn. Clean, well run, effective air con and excellent attentive staff. Shah and Melissa couldn’t do enough for us at dinner. Food was very good too, tasty and good portions.
