Southampton (Eastleigh) hotel

We stayed for one night, the room is basic which I expected, the first thing I noticed though was no long dressing table at the end of the bed on the wall, I actually sent my sister a message about it she replied that it clearly got stolen. But other than that the overall stay was good and Bridget in the restaurant was a lovely hostess and made us feel welcome, but looked considerably busy. I think you may need a few more staff to help out.

We frequently stay at premier inns. This was the worst stay we've ever had, and the most expensive. We booked a plus room, and walked in to a strong smell of smoke. There is no way the cleaning staff could've missed it. My eyes watered once in bed as the smoke smell was worse. The hotel was full so we couldn't change rooms. Cleaning staff told us to tell reception but noone was available. I pre paid continental breakfast and booked a table. When we arrived it was chaos. There were no coffee beans in the coffee machine, no clean mugs, no juice or milk at all. No yoghurt. The pastries had run out and weren't replaced. Most of the bread had run out, no clean plates. I kept asking staff to replace various item. My husband had 2 slices of white bread which he ate off of a serviette. No idea why they are now offering free breakfast with bookings when they can't provide breakfast to paying customers. Such a shame as they are usually excellent.

Premier Inn Southampton is in need of some TLC, the state of the restaurant is poor, it needs a good clean and a refurbishment. Check-in was quick and very friendly. The staff were great throughout our stay. The room is not really set up for a family of 4. the spare bed is directly under the air conditioning unit, so that bed was freezing and you cannot have the window open as the noise from the roads is constant. The room was not that clean, there was hair, stains and rubbish down the toilet and we had to get rid of a spider on the bed as soon as we walked in. The noise from the roads is okay, but the noise from those on the floor above woke us up in the early hours of the morning. not quite the usual standards you would expect from a Premier Inn

From the moment we arrived set the mood for the stay. The receptionist was ignorant and totally unhelpful. If I book and pay for two rooms together I would like to think I would get two rooms together. Not on separate floors and miles apart. NO offer to try and sort this or an explanation just a blank look on his face and a couldn't give a care attitude. The room was fine but cold and the heater didn't work so we went down for something to eat. Imagine our dismay as we were greeted by the same ignorant member of staff who had booked us in who left us stood for five minutes and when to talk to the bar staff. Eventually another member of staff seated us. We then were once more ignored until we asked if we could order. Order placed we waited over 90 minutes watching as what appeared to be the kitchen sending out one order every ten minutes. Finally our food arrived, Cold and not cooked to order. Very disappointing. When we raised the issue with a member of staff we were paid lip service. I won't be looking to re-book here again despite it's great location and suitability.

The staff are very nice and helpful and the room was very clean and comfortable however the service in the restaurant leaves a lot to be desired. As a couple of pensioners treating our 2 grandchildren to a day out and a hotel stay the gloss was taken off it after having to wait 1 + 1/2 hours for their dinner after a long day at the zoo.
