Southampton (Eastleigh) hotel

Booked here expecting the usual reliable Premier Inn night. Got the opposite. First problem: no air conditioning. The rooms only have fans. When it's warm, notices tell you to open the windows and keep the curtains closed. That's the "solution." Second problem, and this is the big one: our first floor room was less than 10 metres from a live train line. Not "near a train line" in the pleasant, convenient sense the website suggests. We're talking freight trains thundering past roughly every 20 minutes, all night long. You'd never know from the listing. You have to zoom right in on Google Maps to see just how close the track is. So put those two together. To cool the room you have to open the window, and the moment you do, you get the full noise of every freight train, all night. We didn't sleep. Not a chance. We asked about their Good Night Guarantee and were told a refund only applies if the problem is "something to do with them." Apparently building right next to a freight line and having no aircon doesn't count. I'd argue both are very much to do with them. If you're a light sleeper, or you just expect a decent night's rest for your money, think twice about this one. Check the map properly before you book, and don't count on the guarantee if things go wrong.

Great location and plenty of parking at the hotel, it was free too which is a plus! We opted for the premier inn plus and it was really worth it. The room was really clean and it was really quiet the whole time we stayed. Having a coffee machine and fridge in the room is perfect. The staff are friendly and helpful. We didn't have any soap and body wash and the staff member at the reception sorted it out straight away. The restaurant is good too, there was a very large selection of food for the breakfast and a good dinner menu for both adult and kids.

Excellent location for Southampton area. The atmosphere is very relaxed and all the staff are friendly and pleasant. Rooms are nice and comfortable with air conditioning, tea and coffee free in room. Evening meal was very good and the breakfast was also . No problems at all . We would highly recommend the hotel.

Supposedly premier inn plus ( what i paid for), no fridge in the room, no bar service available or evening food options. No offer of recompense for failure to provide service - I wouldn't have booked if I'd known

The room was really modern there was good air con and the staff were really helpful
