Southampton (Cumberland Place) hotel

When arriving for the first time we was greeted with a smile, staff was very helpful, especially Sharan, Basia and Maria, food was cooked by Will perfectly, room was clean, amenities are in walking distance , definitely the best experience we have ever had in a hotel, will definitely recommend and will be coming back.

Love coming to this hotel we have come 4years in a row this same time each year. We found this year though that the family I'm we had booked was smaller than my mums single room, with only a shower no bath for my 7year old so asked to be moved. We were on the 3rd floor and were moved to 1st floor within a couple of hours and only a few doos from my mum which was great as daughter could run down corridor within eye shot. Only thing was the room was very small and dark, mums was bigger still even though we had been moved, it didn't seem big enough for a family. Also the room stunk of cigarettes.....im a smoker my self and thought it smelt, and outside hotels needed a bit of a tidy up there seemed to be rubbish outside everytime. Staff weren't great in restaurant apart from Sharan she was amazing so helpful and friendly and explained about the scratch card free meals they were doing .....we had eaten there the night before and knew nothing of this.....Sharan was appalled by the other staff and done what she could to make up for there incompetent service. She went above and beyond for us. We couldn't have asked for a better waitress. 5* to her. Other than that was great. Clean room,love the location,We will be back next year we just hope its standards haven't slipped.

I had booked two nights, from 13/08 to 15/08. The first room we were assigned, on the second floor, smelled strongly of cigarette smoke, which caused us to sleep very poorly. I reported this issue immediately on 13/08 at around 6:30 p.m., and again at approximately 8:30 p.m., but unfortunately no action was taken. It was only the following day, 14/08, that we were assigned a new room on the third floor. This room was fresh and free of any unpleasant odors.

Excellent location for town, theatre and railway station. Car parking adjacent but not included. Room and facilities all exactly what you expect from a Premier Inn. Friendly, helpful staff.
