"Great staff, credit to the chain"
Absolutely the hardest working group I've had the pleasure of staying with. Nothing was too much trouble. Rooms comfy, clean, what more do you need. Shout out to Connor who worked tirelessly.

"Poor accessibility"
My husband is a wheelchair user. We had reserved an accessible room but spoke to the hotel the day before arrival about the bed height. We were informed that 6” bed risers would be in place. Unfortunately on arrival there were no bed risers and my husband could not use the bed as it was too low. The manager said there were no bed risers available and refused to double up a mattress as it wasn’t company policy. He offered a standard room but my husband could then not access the bathroom! We were travelling with family so removed the mattress from their sofa bed and placed it on top of my husbands side of the bed leaving me very little space to sleep beside him. It was a very stressful and disappointing experience handled very badly by the hotel staff

"Great experience - stayed for a local gig"
We had a lovely night’s sleep as always at Premier Inns, check-in staff very helpful and breakfast chef very cheery/food excellent.

"Good basic hotel"
We booked this hotel for two nights before a cruise. (The location closer to the port as well as many other hotels were already full, but this wasn't a bad choice even if they weren't). It was very easy to walk to from the train station, which we took from London to get to Southampton. We ended up booking two rooms because the information online was a bit confusing as to what size beds we would get, and although I thought I booked 2 "twin rooms," I ended up getting 2 "family rooms" that each had a double bed and a twin bed. There was also a floor mattress under the double bed, so officially we all could have fit in one room, just cramped and with no room to move around especially with cruise luggage. The rooms were fine - not the fanciest we've ever stayed in, but worked fine for us. As we knew, there was not refrigerator or microwave in the room. We did not buy any of the food at the hotel restaurants. The area felt safe, and we enjoyed walking through Southampton and exploring the history of the city. On the morning of our cruise, it was hard to get an Uber to take us to the port, but the hotel had a phone connecting to a taxi and that was quick and easy. I would stay here again.

"Strong musty smell - wouldn’t recommend"
I stayed in room 219… soon as I entered the room is had a strong musty damp smell, it was so strong the smell was in all my clothes. There was yellow water stains on some of the ceiling panels so guessing there was a flood at some point which is why it smelt so bad. Although the windows are unable to be opened so thought it could also be old stale air that can never escape. I didn’t feel like ii was healthy to stay there.
The cleanliness of the room was poor. The toilet hadn’t been cleaned properly and there was old hair stuck in the sinks. There was dust pretty much every where and the skirting boards were pretty bad.
I chose to stay at this premier inn because it had better reviews than the others in the area but guess I just got unlucky.
Unfortunately when I come back to Southampton I won’t be staying here again or advise anyone else to look elsewhere. This is the 3rd premier inn I have stayed in with poor conditions. Not quite sure what is going on but rooms NEED to be cleaned properly.
The only upsides to staying here was the location, only a 12 minute walk to Westquay shopping centre which is ideal.
