"Very good location but quite an unpleasant breakfast experience."
We stayed here during our trip to Paultons Park. The location is super convenient, right next to Westquay shopping centre and about a 40-minute drive to Bournemouth Beach. Parking was cheap and easy in the multi-storey car park right next to the hotel. The room was clean and comfortable, and the night staff were really friendly and helpful. We did have an unpleasant experience at breakfast though. My husband asked for mayonnaise, which was later brought out by a lady (probably in her late 40's or 50s, name start with “S”) in a small container which is no issue there. However, my husband had gone to the toilet and didn’t realise it had already been served. When he returned on his way back to the table, he asked another member of staff for mayonnaise. The same lady who had brought it out asked that staff member where they were going, and when they said it was for my husband, she rolled her eyes and said “Oh my god” not realising my husband saw and heard her. She then pointed to the table and told him it had already been served. We both found that really rude and unnecessary. It would’ve been fine to just let him know politely. On top of that, the next morning we asked again and never received it at all. Also, the toilet on the lobby is untidy and not being cleaned. Overall, it’s a good hotel in a great spot and most of the staff were kind, but that moment at breakfast left a bad impression. Hopefully just a one-off.
"Good for pre-cruise stopover"
Great location for cruise terminal (5 minute taxi ride away). Excellent shopping centre adjacent. Friendly staff. Breakfast good value. Room clean and functional. Great price as booked a year ahead.
"6* for Anthony"
I’ve stayed in many PI over the years, & they can be very noisy. After several hours of hearing the sponsored walker pounding the floor, along with a constant bump, I’d had enough & asked for a room change. I explained rather now than have me come down in the night to claim my money back due to not having a good night sleep. I was told it wouldn’t harm them in the slightest 😮 almost like I could do whatever I liked & she didn’t care! They claimed to be fully booked, & said that they couldn’t do anything about it anyway & said to contact customer relations. My choice would’ve been the ibis with the harbour view (MEOW), but MrDW wanted the PI as they usually have a bath for his aching limbs, but there was no bath in the room this time! So we got off to a pretty bad start. A few hours later we were back at the PI to have dinner, I was still moany & didn’t fancy anything. But we were very fortunate to have the lovely Anthony serving us our delicious meal & drink. The man never stopped, he’s like a machine!!!! Nothing was too much trouble for Anthony as he appeared to be running the show alone, yet still had time to check that everyone was happy. I did have a peaceful night sleep, whoever was making all the noise had either exhausted themselves & was sleeping it off, or had finally left the building. However, I could still hear the bump, which I can only assume was the lift or something. The bed was the best we’d ever slept in, & the pillows, well we’re ordering 4. Oh & the room was immaculate! It’s probably the only PI that I’ve stayed in with a clean carpet, honestly they’re usually quite stained. Breakfast was very nice, & we enjoyed it. Although the bread needed topping up though as there was only 2 slices, I took 1, so that left 1 for everyone else to fight over. Thanks to everyone for taking care of us.
