"Fun day in Southampton before our cruise"
Great pre-cruise hotel. They offered early check in for a small fee & had a later check out allowing us to walk to breakfast before our cruise. Lots of restaurants within walking distance & we even walked to the cruise port. We enjoyed our stay & felt that this hotel was a good value.
"Decent amenities and have to self reliant"
First time staying at Premier Inn and was surprised that front desk was at a bar. Check-in time was strictly at 3pm. Everything is self-service, even have to ask for rooms to be cleaned.
"Good location, not so good customer facing staff."
We booked this hotel due to its proximity to the cruise port. We booked 2 nights, 1 before the cruise and 1 after. Prior to arriving, we wanted to request an early check-in. It was very difficult to do this as no one answered the phone at the hotel (we tried many, many times). We had to resort to calling the head office. It states on the app that you can add this request by modifying the booking - this is not the case. When we arrived at the hotel it was very hectic. We managed to leave our luggage until check-in, and the manager (I believe) was very efficient. You have to be a bit pushy at this hotel as there is not an efficient system, a "wait here" sign, but staff not interested - you could wait a while to be assisted- thats if the manager isnt about. Staff at times are preoccupied and dont want to stop to assist and act like you're invisible. We managed to get the early check-in as requested. The room was large and clean. There are extra supplies at the ground floor lift for tea and coffee. The bar area is nice but acts as a waiting area also. It was not too nice if you wanted a drink or food and guests sitting waiting to check in or leave. We didn't get a table in the dining area for dinner, even though we had booked a table months beforehand. We had to sit in the bar - staff seemed rushed off their feet and not very friendly. The meal was ok. We had the breakfast/dinner deal, so going into breakfast, we were told dismissively to find a seat, but there didn't seem to be any free - luckily, the brilliant manager was working. He cleaned a table, and explained the setup. Breakfast was good. On checking out, we requested an early check-in again for our post cruise stay with the manager. Luckily, we did, as on our return stay, it was, a shambles again. Lots of people fed up hanging about trying to check in early - as I said before, it's difficult to arrange. This hotel is the perfect location for the town and cruise port. Lots of shops and restaurants nearby. We loved Rosemary's - just down from Tesco. My tip, if you want an early check in- phone, the head office before, and double check it was reception if going post cruise . Thank godness for the manager. He is very efficient and, even though very busy, could still be professional. Training in customer service for the rest of the front of house staff is much needed. Staff seem to do reception, bar, restaurant, left luggage - too many different jobs that no one takes responsibility for one service. Put someone on reception during busy times! Would I return?- not likely.
"Great Premier Inn"
No complaints at all. Multi story car park very close by £7 ,for 24 hours. Very clean and tidy lovely very helpful staff. Very comfortable room. Food excellent bit of a wait but was very busy with 2 cruise ships in. Didn't see this as a problem at all. Good experience
"Quiet and comfortable"
Great hotel with incredible staff. Staff went above and beyond to make us comfortable. They were willing to hold our bags when we arrived early and expedite our room. Room was very clean and had everything we needed. Tons of charging ports for our electronic devices and incredibly quiet. Will definitely stay again.
