"Disappointing"
Money grubbing. Terrible room. Out of the way location. The lobby is like a third rate bus station. BUT the staff are generally friendly and nice. They charge a hefty amount to check in even a few minutes early (and most people are coming off cruises around 9AM). Everything is "extra", and not cheap. They tried to give 1 towel for 2 people - the room attendant said that most people don't realize this until checkout time and then they just don't bother to shower. And it went downhill from there.
"Great hotel"
We love this hotel. Staff location and facilities perfect for what we need. Updated bar restaurant area is lovely Rooms clean and comfortable and very thing you need for a short stay
"Pre cruise"
Easy check in without using app. Room was great clean modern and well designed purple option on bathroom light a nice touch and phone charger. Room was on street side but heard no noise on 5th floor. Car park is the West Quay multi storey a short walk away £7 a night. Bar and restaurant looks good but we never used them as West Quay is across the road. Would definitely stay here again pre cruise.
"Perfect Stay"
Perfect location for shopping/parking and also for joining Cruise ship terminal . We have stayed here several times and never had any issues. Very comfortable and always made to feel welcome .
"First Impressions Weren't Great"
We booked the Premier Inn for one night after our cruise. We had booked an early check in from 11am, and arrived shortly before 9am to ask if we could store our luggage until check in. The layout is confusing as there's no front desk, just the self-serve kiosks and the bar, and we were looking around to figure out who to ask for help when a staff member came over. This staff member was rude and hostile from the word go, asking what we needed and did we know it was only 9am? She went on to scold us for expecting to get a room so early, despite us explaining several times we were only asking if the hotel stored luggage and had not asked for a room as we were well aware of check in time. She eventually reluctantly arranged to store our luggage, and was busy berating another group who also asked about luggage storage as we left. This first impression was so bad we spent an hour in a nearby coffee shop wondering what we'd done wrong and debating collecting our luggage and going to another hotel. At check in time, we were checked in by someone more welcoming, though as our stay went on we found this was the exception rather than the rule. The staff seemed overwhelmed and unhappy throughout much of our stay. The room was relatively clean and comfortable, breakfast was good, and our evening meal was fine. It looked like there were some good deals in the bar but our experiences so far put us off having a drink there. For a clean, affordable, central place to stay in Southampton, the Premier Inn is an ok choice but there are better options, with a warmer welcome, elsewhere.
