"Portsmouth weekend"
Busy weekend due to Southwick event nearby . Hotel was busy but staff were cheerful and helpful. This Hotel is ideally situated for Port Solent and an easy drive from the Portsmouth park and ride . In addition 10 minutes drive to our destination Southwick village.

"Great value Premier Plus room at good location, shame about the restaurant…."
The location of Port Solent is excellent, and as it is near the ferry to France, it is a hotel that we have used frequently. We were welcomed warmly by the receptionist, who dealt with an enquiry for our return journey very well. We had booked a Premier Plus room (420) and it was excellent; the room was spacious, recently decorated, with a large bathroom, and very quiet. Unusually, there were two chairs for two people!! The walk-in shower was vast, there was a fridge, Nespresso machine, complimentary bottles of water, and an iron and ironing board. The room itself was spotless. For the £77 we paid, it was tremendous value. Sadly, the attached restaurant was a bitter disappointment…there were so many items OFF the menu, that in truth, it would have been easier to scribble the short list of available items on a blackboard. It was only because of the charm, sense of humour and genuine apologies from JULIE, our waitress, that we didn’t just walk out. In the end, I had a very good gammon steak, and my husband enjoyed a chicken curry. We can thoroughly recommend this Premier Plus type room and hope that the rest of the hotel can be similarly upgraded.

"Multitasking staff are never where the guest wants them to be."
The room was nice and comfortable.
We Tried to open the window a little (Warm Day) only for the net curtain to fall down, the net curtain needs to be fixed at the edge of the window rather than have a spring-loaded curtain rail placed near the glass..
The window can only be opened a little for safety reasons.
The TV channels are all over the place and needs somebody to organise the channels into a practical order rather that have BB1 on channel 22 and ITV on channel 52.
The room had a stain on the carpet and a dirty glass on the tray. 5min with a cleaner would have removed the stain. Why was it not done?
Maybe the cleaner had a lot of rooms to process and a period of 5min per room.
We were asked to make a booking at the restaurant which we did for 7pm, when we arrived there was nobody to greet us or to inform us of the routine, Were the staff multi tasking again?.
What is the point of asking people for a meal time?.
Quality of food was very poor.
Evening meal:
The steaks were over cooked.
The Mushrooms were very rubbery (either over cooked or past their best).
The sweets were just warm.
Breakfast:
Bacon cold and greasy. Piled high on a tray.
Eggs were hard to pick up as they kept slipping off the tray due to the amount of oil on them.
Black pudding was tasteless.
The Sausages were nice.
Bar staff had no idea about cocktails. one was reading from a card and the other mixing the drinks. They had no idea of what measurement to put in the cocltail drinks.
If you wanted a drink and there was nobody at the bar you had to wait while they became available.
Shortage of staff, staff multitasking trying to be in two places at the same time, lack of the right training.
It’s down to bad management at senior level and cost cutting.

"Great location for Ferry Ports"
Great location for both Ferry ports especially the main port only a 5 minute drive. We had a premier plus room with is on the top floor and worked well for us.

"Awful"
I booked a premier inn as myself and my family were attending a wedding and wanted a nice stay with a comfortable bed knowing we'd have alot of travelling to do before and after the wedding along with a long day for the wedding. Unfortunately the bed was very uncomfortable and hard and we didnt get a good sleep. On top of that we had alot of disturbance on the 2nd night as people were running up and down the corridors knocking on rooms. There were no staff in the lobby upon our departure so I couldn't complain at the time, I did however email Premier inn and they were very unhelpful. We will not be returning to any premier inn again.
