"Good but....."
The beds and rooms are fab as ever, the food has got worse over time the other issue is the lack of staff . The staff they do have are wonderful, but getting hold of one is a dream only some can have. Having a nice clean hotel is one thing; having no staff is another. The other issue is the air con . Thery have now sealed all the windows, even in the old block so you have rely on the aircon , which is very loud and not very good.

"Don’t always trust the description!"
Chose this hotel for one reason, the description stated that all rooms have a shower rather than a bath! I am disabled with mobility issues, and need a walk in shower, so this suited us. On arrival we were allocated a room with a bath and shower over. We went to reception to ask to be swapped and explained why. They were very busy and only a few members of staff, people queuing at reception, at the bar and the restaurant. We were asked to show them where is stated online that rooms have showers only, which we did, only to be told that this means all rooms have baths with showers over! Really!!! The lady was quite off with us and told us there were no rooms available with just a shower, so we couldn’t be moved. On top of this, we had a loose toilet seat, not good for someone with a hip replacement! Spoke to a lovely member of staff the next morning, who said she was going to look into this, apologised, and agreed with us, that errors had been made and they would remove the shower statement, but this hasn’t yet been done, so be warned!
Other than that, it’s a good location for Isle of Wight ferries, and had a good meal at the Beefeater next door.

"Comfy premier inn"
Arrived on the Sunday 21st June and the reception was excellent. There is a book in system on a machine which he quickly helped us with. Super polite and helpful. Went to our room and it was super clean and fresh. We were facing the road which is noisy at night lots of loud exhausts !! We had the meal package and it was superb the haddock was cooked to perfection and the prices are really good value. Overall a great experience and have stayed numerous times. My advice is get a room that backs onto the car park. This hotel is first class and thanks to all the very helpful staff.

"Great value Premier Plus room at good location, shame about the restaurant…."
The location of Port Solent is excellent, and as it is near the ferry to France, it is a hotel that we have used frequently. We were welcomed warmly by the receptionist, who dealt with an enquiry for our return journey very well. We had booked a Premier Plus room (420) and it was excellent; the room was spacious, recently decorated, with a large bathroom, and very quiet. Unusually, there were two chairs for two people!! The walk-in shower was vast, there was a fridge, Nespresso machine, complimentary bottles of water, and an iron and ironing board. The room itself was spotless. For the £77 we paid, it was tremendous value. Sadly, the attached restaurant was a bitter disappointment…there were so many items OFF the menu, that in truth, it would have been easier to scribble the short list of available items on a blackboard. It was only because of the charm, sense of humour and genuine apologies from JULIE, our waitress, that we didn’t just walk out. In the end, I had a very good gammon steak, and my husband enjoyed a chicken curry. We can thoroughly recommend this Premier Plus type room and hope that the rest of the hotel can be similarly upgraded.
