Lymington (New Forest, Hordle) hotel

For Premier Inns arriving here is a bit of a shock!! It looks and gives the impression of being very run down and in need of a make over. However the service was brilliant Matthews’s greeting set the standard for everyone we met excellent. Our room was first class we could not fault it. We had a meal or a mile down the road at The Old Mill. Breakfast in the “closed” on site pub was exceptional cooked to order perfection!! Come on Premier Inns sort the site out it’s harming your reputation.

Lovely, homely Premier Inn (one of my favourites to date) a little tired in places but it didn’t matter. Location is great, big quiet car park, surrounded by trees. Room was clean and felt spacious with a comfy mattress and excellent shower. Breakfasts were excellent - well cooked and of a good quality and evening meals were also of the same standard and generous. The staff were absolutely fantastic, so welcoming and friendly a credit to Premier Inn and so important to the overall homely feel. Wouldn’t hesitate to book again if in the area. Special mention to Matthew on reception who made us feel so welcome.

The building looks run down I understand the attached pub closed down 2 years ago Old outside furniture is still there. The car park has a disgusting bike storage and the entrance door area is hardly recognisable as an entrance. We were greeted by a very friendly reception who could not have been better. We booked a meal deal and the menu was extremely limited. We would not eat here 2 nights in a row. Breakfast next morning was cooked by the manager and we could not have boiled or poached eggs!!! It was excellent but if I had paid for continental I would have requested a refund. At 8.45 there were no croissants, crumpets, muffins etc just cereal and toast and a tiny bit of prepared fruit, they had no more I did ask. We were told by the receptionist that he was cooking the next night along with the manning of reception!!! I had to wipe some water off my bathroom floor and the floor mat was filthy so cleaning had been done. My advice is to go to Somerford at Christchurch instead and to Premier Inn to close this down and sell it for building land.

The hotel needs to be completely renovated and should not be considered a Premier Inn. It was in an appalling state, with rooms smelling of damp. We had a noisy dehumidifier which we had to turn off to sleep, and we couldn’t open our window as it was sealed shut. The state of the bar and public toilets was shocking, I was amazed that Premier Inn would put their name above the door.

Good location as it was fairly central for the local attractions that we wanted to visit. There were also several nice pubs and a farm shop with 10-15 mins drive. Handy for us as family with young children as there was a park a few minutes walk away. Staff were all very friendly and parking is easy. Unfortunately the building is very run down and dirty. Our room and especially the bathroom was pretty unpleasant due to long standing dirt and mould. The damp smell in the room was awful. Probably the second worst premier inn I've stayed in. The price wasn't too bad given the location but equally it isn't the cheapest premier inn so it really needs some improvements to make it good value
