Wigan Town Centre hotel

We arrived at this hotel on Friday 16th October and as we booked the meal deal, the receptionist told us we could book evening meal at 6 or after 9 pm. We did choose the 6 pm slot. On Saturday we told we could eat at 8.15 and not before as it was booked with a load of kids. We were then told that our breakfast was either 7 or 9.45 am on Saturday and Sunday. Both of these times didn’t really suit us as. 7 was way too early and 9.45 too late! We chose the 9.45. I asked why and was told that they were booked up for a party of youngsters who took up the whole restaurant. We then had to wait for them to clean restaurant because the children made so much mess, even though they weren’t toddlers. It was disgusting. We found the room to be very basic and had to go to reception to ask for more towels as we only had one bath and one hand towel for both of us! I think the hotel needs to be updated as we found the walls and skirting boards to be very scuffed and marked. We were also surprised that there isn’t a bar and we had to ask the reception staff for a drink who weren’t always there. All in all it wasn’t the best experience as we have stayed in a number of Premier Inns and probably wouldn’t come back.

I stayed here for two nights due to a work training course in Wigan. The hotel was roughly a 10 to 15 min walk from the train station. Every member of staff I seen during my stay were friendly and helpful. My hotel room was clean but did need a freshened up, paint wise and the shower head needed replaced as the water was going in every direction. The bed was very comfortable. There was a TV & Kettle with Tea and Coffee available. Found the hotel room very warm when I arrived but there was air conditioning to control this. Unable to open windows. I enjoyed the breakfast buffet. Good selection of food and drinks.

I stayed at the Premier Inn in Wigan Town Centre for one night and, overall, it was an adequate stay. The hotel is located quite close to the railway station, making it a good option if you’re travelling by train. There are also plenty of parking facilities around the hotel if you don’t want to pay the price for parking in the hotel’s own car park. The rooms are starting to look a little dated, but for a one-night stay they were perfectly acceptable and had everything needed. Maybe with the exception of a view and people emptying bins early in the morning. There is a bar and restaurant on the ground floor, with reasonably priced food and drinks. Breakfast was included in my stay and there was a variety of options, so there was something to suit most tastes. The main frustration was the check-in process. The room had been booked through a corporate account, and the hotel required the booking reference number. This isn’t always easy to find when someone else has made the booking for you. What’s particularly strange is that, once you’ve provided the reference number, they then ask you to confirm your surname, so it seems odd that they can no longer locate the booking using your surname in the first place. As a result, check-in took longer than expected, but once that was sorted, there were no real problems.

Do not come to this place!!! Absolutely horrible experience.. place is a joke. If a chef is working then your onto a winner! If not the manageress will cook you the crappiest meal while giving you attitude. Avoid avoid avoid.....

Really poor experience. I was told to use self service check in despite not wanting to. After going through the whole process and paying, the machine crashed, couldn’t find my booking and wouldn’t issue a room key. Staff then had to check me in manually anyway. The hotel is run down, the lift barely works, and my room absolutely stank of cigarettes. It genuinely smelt like an ashtray and, with windows that don’t open, there was no way to air it out. Easily the worst Premier Inn I’ve stayed in. Would not recommend.
