Haydock Park/M6 J23 hotel

Overall the hotel is a nice clean hotel. Worse thing for me was finding a silver charm in my bed when I pull the quilt over. I was mortified as you can imagine. The staff we all great. Evening meal - they ran out of chips, this happens and they did offer us an alternative and a free drink. The buffet breakfast was great with plenty of choice, then one morning they were not offering the buffet and you had to order from your table. I ordered scrambled egg and I think they must have put half a bottle of salt in it - I couldn't eat it. Plenty of parking spaces and easy to find.

Good location but that's it! even then, only because a McDonalds is next door! Met at reception with hostility as I did not have the reference number to hand! (never needed before as a business booking! The new Plus Rooms in the converted former Table Table are smaller (or seem so) than the standard rooms! it was COLD and never warmed up despite turning up on the control panel! the new shower looks great but in use is terrible as the screen is too large giving a narrow gap to get in, this forces you to stand inside to turn it on, meaning you get cold shower until it warms up! no way of running it until warm. the bathroom is tiny too so, when drying off you bash knuckles on the wall or screen. In the new 'Social' bar/restaurant the tables are very close together making it uncomfortable and hard to access and has a very poor range of drinks on offer. the menu is small so not much choice, the pizza ordered was both under & over cooked (an amazing feat) with the Dow round the outside cold and chewy and the centre, dry & hard! Expensive too with the extra toppings to make it worth a meal. the Burger on the second night was edible but nothing special and costly for what it is. The staff seemed always busy, but had to call for attention every time as they walked past as i couldn't get out from the seat with the tables so close together. overall another poor show from the new look PI offering.

The staff in this premier inn were friendly and it was nice, quiet and had comfy beds we have learned to expect from premier inn. Good value for money.

The room itself was ok, bed linen spotless and nice towels. There was an awful smell of damp in the corridor of the 1st floor. In the room it had a faint smell of sewage and tbe window had been left open, even though it was a cold day. The smell became less if I kept the toilet flushed excessively and the sink plughole closed. WiFi was very poor. The guy on arrival after midnight 3rd April was excellent

I had booked this premier inn for a family room (4 members) on our way to Scotland to spend the night (one night). As one would imagine, their mattresses were super comfy and all of us slept well (specially kids). Room was neat and tidy as well when we checked in and bath was neat and tidy as well. We had two pairs of hand and shower towels. Bed sheets / linen were all clean. Outside the premier inn, there were several parking spaces available so we parked easily. It was good overall.
