London Southwark (Southwark Station) hotel

Stay was amazing and team in reception and restaurant were very helpful

I find it unbearable to sleep in an airless room where the temperature is confined to a minimum of 19 degrees centigrade. The BBC weather forecast today spoke of how difficult and uncomfortable it will be to sleep when overnight temperatures are 14 or 15 degrees, and yet I was made to endure far higher than this whilst attempting to sleep at this hotel. I would suggest looking elsewhere should anyone find sleeping at such temperatures uncomfortable.

Husband had a concert to attend in Shepard's Bush so we decided to spend the night in London. We prefer to stay fairly close to Waterloo so we can go back home to Hampshire easily. The hotel itself was clean, the staff were very friendly and efficient. The mattress was not the most comfortable, but that's a personal preference; would have preferred a slightly more softer feel the mattress. The restaurant for dinner was a bit overpriced for the offerings on hand, so went elsewhere for dinner. Breakfast was served buffet style and unfortunatley buffet breakfasts invariably tend to be a touch overcooked and not very hot. I had the cooked breakfast and it was, for London, fairly reasonably priced. Luckily the eggs had runny yolks, but as the temperature was tepid at best it wasn't the best texture.

Very convenient location, close to both Waterloo and Southwark station. Room was comfortable and the shower room looked fairly new. Disappointingly we were kept awake by the noisy A/C and unfortunately the room became too warm when we turned it off, again disrupting our sleep. It was a shame as we really liked the area which was buzzing in the evening and the hotel staff were friendly.

STRONG POINTS --------------------------- - Well located - Calm and safe area WEAK POINTS ----------------------- - More kind attention, especially at the reception. - We arrive 30 min before 15h and we were asked for more money in order to be able to have access to the room. The room was ready and had to wait 30 min at the reception. The lady was very rude also with us. - Better system for the cleaning (I do not understand the necessity of having to ask for the cleaning every single day). - Very poor cleaning. Not cleaning dirty glasses. No vacuum cleaner used. New towels launched on the bed. - Long queues at the breakfast if you are not there at 7 am. - Exaggerated have to pay more for extra speed Internet. - TV was not new, very slow and remote control was not working well and super slow. Not pleasant to use the TV.
