London Docklands (Canning Town) hotel

I recently stayed at a Premier Inn and was very disappointed with the overall experience. The problems started at check-in. We attempted to use the self-service check-in machine, but it was not working properly. When we approached the front desk for assistance, the staff member only provided one room key card despite us specifically requesting two, which was inconvenient from the start. Upon arriving at our room, we discovered that we had been allocated an accessible room. While I have no issue with accessible rooms themselves, it would have been courteous and professional for the staff to inform us of this at check-in rather than leaving us to find out on our own. The biggest issue was the air conditioning. Although the control panel indicated that the system was switched on, there was virtually no cool air coming from it. As a result, the room was uncomfortable, and it significantly affected the quality of our stay. I have always viewed Premier Inn as a reliable, comfortable hotel brand that offered good value and a consistent experience. Unfortunately, this stay fell well below those expectations. The combination of a poor check-in experience, lack of communication regarding the room allocation, and ineffective air conditioning has left me feeling that the quality has dropped significantly. Based on this experience, I will have to seriously reconsider whether I choose to stay at Premier Inn again in the future.

We stayed here for the Ariana Grande concert at the 02. It was not suggested as a ‘close’ hotel with a basic search but is just one jubilee line tube stop away, we travelled via the London Cable Car which was a 10 minute walk from the hotel and also the Uber Boat via Royal Wharf which is z25 minutes walk. Travelling with teenage girls and young women the hotel felt very safe and secure and the small team of staff were always on hand and very helpful. The reception staff were great - interested in our plans and offered advice. The rooms were a good size and well equipped, a few minor issues were dealt with immediately which was reassuring.

We've stayed at this location a few times before, and I have to say it is quite possibly my favourite location to stay at in the area. Not only is the location very accessible, the hotel is very easy to navigate and the staff s always friendly and helpful. The rooms have always been very clean and well supplied, the noise levels vary but for the most part the rooms are pretty well soundproofed. The phone signal varies as well depending which end of the hotel you end up in, but there is the option for wifi if no signal is an issue. The rooms are great value at affordable prices for such a lovely hotel in a great location in terms of transport links and the atmosphere is always very relaxed. Great stay, cannot wait until next time!

The hotel itself was generally okay. It’s a cheap place to lay your head at the end of the day. It was nice to have the extra pillows in the room, without having to ask for more. The lack of staff is quite annoying though. The self check in machine wasn’t working properly, so we had to get someone to issue us keys. They acted as though it was a bit of a hassle, and handed over 1 card for 2 people. Usually were asked how many we want. This staff member didn’t really say much to us, and then made it seem like I was wrong to ask for 2. They supplied 1 towel for 2 adults, so we had to go to reception to get another one. It took ages for someone to come to us, no apology for the wait. Staff at the bar could see us waiting but didn’t say anything or try to help. The same man who checked us in came and acted like we were asking for the world. The bedroom had a weird smell, almost like someone had walked cheesy crisps into the carpet or something. The windows don’t open so there’s no way to get rid of it. It’s in a good location for the tube/DLR. An okay place to stay, unless you need something and then prepare to wait an age to be seen by someone who doesn’t really want to be there.

Excellent location for events at the O2 as it is located just one stop away on the tube. All staff were very helpful, particularly Tarang. Room was clean and very quiet. Meal deal is excellent value, dinner and breakfast were very good.
