"Faultless!"
I’ve stayed in a lot of Premier Inns and this has been the best. In an amazing location for access to central London but also just a short stroll to the entertainment of Canary Wharf. The hotel is busy with tourists yet has a nice feel to it, the staff are very slick and professional while being welcoming and friendly. Nicolas really looked after our family, and made my birthday stay very special. The room was lovely and the breakfast was great. They even looked after our bags so we could sightsee before departing. We will definitely stay here again.
"Great, modern hotel… BUT mobile connectivity is POOR."
A short and sweet review of a modern Premier Inn hotel which looks great from the outside and is reflected on the inside too. The lobby is nice, modern and clean looking, has the typical self-check in machines which are easy enough to use. There is also an easily accessible desk if you prefer the traditional experience. It’s a 26 storey hotel with 4 lifts which make traversing the building easy - however the lifts will do their best to fill one lift at a time if they’re heading down to the ground floor, so it can be quite a wait for one to arrive. The room itself: we had a quad room on the 10th floor of the building however our room was located right in the centre of the building, rather than on the outside so our view from our window overlooked a void that runs vertical through the centre of the building, with the windows of other people’s rooms dotted around. This meant the room had very poor natural lighting, so when waking up in the morning, it would still feel like 2am when it was actually 10am. In general it just made the room feel really dark and cramped in a sense. The room itself was great, however: an appropriate size with plenty of modern amenities you’d expect - a TV, air conditioning, plenty of power sockets and USB ports for charging, lots of storage space and the same very comfy beds you expect from Premier Inn. The bathroom was quite large and spacious which is always welcomed for washing and changing. My only complaint really, in conjunction with the poor view/natural lighting issue is that the mobile signal was nonexistent. I’m unsure whether it was because we were right in the middle of the building but we had absolutely zero mobile signal in our room, so we were unable to make calls/texts to the outside world. This meant there was no ability to use mobile data, so we were forced to use the free WiFi, which is only really good at receiving notifications. Premier Inn do also offer an “Ultimate” WiFi at the cost of £5 per 24 hour period. Ultimate is not the word I would use to describe it’s offering - 8Mb/s which isn’t really enough for consistent HD video streaming. I found this very frustrating, for such a modern looking and feeling hotel, to be so brought down by poor mobile connectivity and poor Wi-Fi offering. We were forced to sit in the downstairs lobby just to communicate with the rest of the world which is very poor in my eyes. There is a chance this could be better with one of the rooms on the outer circumference of the building, rather than in the centre. Apart from this, if you’re looking for a base, this would be a great option. It’s nice, modern and clean throughout. It’s in an ideal location, close to local buses and the Docklands Light Railway station at Westferry. However, the mobile connectivity, poor Wi-Fi offering and the rooms in the centre of the building which are centred around the vertical void do let this hotel down.
"do not recommend"
wouldn’t stay here again. bed was broken, shower was too small and unsafe, asked for room to be cleaned and got up early for them to do it and came back with it being not cleaned. sounded like someone was trying to break into room all night
"Very poor"
Blood stained towels, hairdryers that cut out after 30 seconds of use, broken coffee machine in the room. Staff who took 45 mins to replace the hairdryer whilst my partner sits with wet hair after asking for the drier to be replaced urgently so we could go out. Getting a complimentary breakfast for this hassle is nice, but not when they don't record it on the system and we are made to feel like liers when we go to redeem said breakfast. Then the coffee machine at breakfast doesn't work and the coffee tastes rubbish. Have stayed here before and it's definitely gone downhill. Won't be coming back!
"Good value London stay"
Well located hotel for London visits. DLR Line is right outside, and Elizabeth and Jubilee lines are not far away in Canary Wharf. We stayed six nights here, so we were very impressed with the staff. Their service never varied from exceptional. So friendly and welcoming. Thank you for a memorable stay.
