London Blackfriars (Fleet Street) hotel

The hotel is in a good location, but the whole hotel could do with a refresh - there was a general sense that the hotel was tired and grubby. The corridors, lobby area, lifts, and bedrooms would benefit emensly from a refresh. It felt like staying in a hostel rather than a hotel.

We stayed in room 11 and this was our first time in a basement‑level room. The gentlemen’s toilets on that floor had a persistent unpleasant odor, and our bathroom sink was heavily clogged and drained very slowly. Housekeeping was disappointing. We requested cleaning one morning as it needs to be requested separately every day , but no one came. After asking again on the next day, someone only changed the towels and emptied the bin. The room itself was not cleaned, the same spots remained in the sink and toilet, and no toilet paper was added. When I reported this, I was simply handed loose toilet paper with no follow‑up. We also reported a broken USB port, but instead of taking our room number or arranging maintenance, the receptionist told us to buy an adapter ourselves. On our first night, the extra blanket we received was wrapped in what looked like a used. Reception service overall did not feel attentive or service‑minded. One positive note: the tall gentleman working in the breakfast area made us feel genuinely welcome. If you’re looking for a centrally located hotel at a reasonable price and don’t expect viihtyvyys, friendliness, or even basic respect from staff — and are not too picky about cleanliness — this hotel may still suit your needs.

Stay here every year and can't fault it. The location is excellent, and you get a nice, clean room that was quite spacious. The service was friendly and room was fairly comfortable - only complaint was the thin pillows. Even doubled-up they weren't enough. Our room was also towards the back of the hotel, which I thought would be noisy, but apart from some road noise in the morning, the room was very quiet and dark thanks to the black-out curtains.

Just next to Fleet Street, between Blackfriars and Farringdon stations, this location is a great option but anyone looking to hit the main tourist attractions. The rooms are cosy, the staff is great and convenience is the best word I can use to describe what I think of this hotel. In my next trip to London, I'll most probably return to this location.

I arrived at the hotel just before 4pm, check in is at 3pm. I was damp from the drizzle outside and wandering around trying to find the hotel. Used the self check-in but was unable to as said room not ready. On speaking to the reception, the double bed had been made up but the single had not. She let me check in anyway and said someone would make up the single bed. There was only one set of towels in the room so as I left to meet my daughter for dinner I asked for a second set. She said these would be provided at the same time as the single being made. When I arrived back later with my daughter we went to the room for her to change. Bed had been made up but no second lot of towels. Spoke to reception again and she handed over the towels. I asked if these could be put in the room as we were on our way out to a show. She said to collect on our our return which would have been late, so we took the towels and had to quickly take them back up to our room making us late getting out. There appeared a lack of staff but twice when I used the back entry I saw staff sitting around on the steps smoking which is not nice to walk through. The hotel is in a fantastic area for visiting St Pauls, Tate Modern ect. Lots of shops, cafes and restaurants. But for me the service let this hotel down, Ive stayed at much better Premiere Inns.
