Chessington hotel

Just had a difficult stay as the hotel was having some work done. They did inform us of this but only mentioned that it may be noisy between certain times. We decided as we were going to the theme park that it would be acceptable. What they didn’t say was the entire ground floor was closed and they don’t have a lift. As we had previously called the hotel to ask for a ground floor room we were surprised when we called a few days before our trip to check to find it was not possible. We were unable to change to another hotel so asked if we could be near the stairs as to evacuate in an emergency was going to take time due to limited mobility. We also asked if our 2 rooms could be close to each other as we had 3 boys with learning difficulties and ADHD. They said they could do that but when we arrived we were no where near the top of the stairs and had 2 fire doors between us and the boys. It’s a shame that we were not given all the information earlier and more consideration had been taken with regard to our disabilities as it wasn’t just a nice to have but would have made our stay less stressful. We booked dinner in the restaurant as we had had a reasonably long drive only to find they had a very minimal menu with no children’s meals at all, as there freezer had broken. We realise these things can happen but looking at previous reviews it’s not the first time this has happened. We have previously stayed at other premier inns nearby and they have been great so next time we won’t be thinking of the closeness to the theme park but we will happily drive 10 minutes as this hotel is more expensive and for us has not been a great experience. We did speak to all 3 of the managers but there really was nothing they could do any better and the restaurant is apparently nothing to do with them.

We had a pleasant meal. The lady serving us was lovely her name was Chloe. She was rushed off her feet. She still managed to get our drinks and food without making us wait for a long time.

The hotel has been recently renovated, there are new carpets through the corridors and our room was newly updated. The room was a good size, we had two extra beds for children and still had plenty of space. Coat hooks and hanging space was handy. The bathroom was clean and newly refurbished. We were in room 128. We had a kettle in the room with teabags and coffee provided, you could also help yourself to more if needed from the reception area. This hotel has no lift but this didn't bother us. Air conditioning unit in the room wasn't working but we were comfortable. We ate dinner and breakfast in the restaurant next door, we were able to book a table for dinner when we arrived that morning. We parked in the carpark before heading to Chessington World Of Adventures for the day. The food in the restaurant was good, we had booked the meal deal and found it great value. Eddie and Chloe were working when we had dinner and both were friendly and welcoming. It was busy and there was just the two of them but they were both brilliant. Definitely could have done with some more staff and it was a shame to hear others complaining to Chloe about the time the food was taking. However, she went and helped in the kitchen to speed everything up. Great service. Breakfast was good, lots to choose from and not overly busy. Have to admit, I almost cancelled our stay based on previous reviews but I am glad I didn't. Would definitely stay here again. Takes 5 minutes to walk to the theme park and found the entrance on this side of the park much calmer at opening time.

The hotel is undergoing renovation but the rooms are comfortable and have all you need the restaurant is nice but has a limited choice Chloe is great and was very helpful and advised us the best way to travel around and get to Hampton court

Great service in the restaurant from Amie. Food was lovely and service was attentive.
