Gloucester (Quayside) hotel

Great location and ideal for our two night stay. Lots of shopping, restaurants with city centre a short walk away. Plenty of parking too. A costa coffee is well placed across the road and the Quays shopping mall a few minutes walk away. Room was comfortable and the air con a must during the heat wave. There were a number of wedding guests staying during our time here but nights were quiet and sleep quality good. Reception is unmanned, but we did manage to engage human beings to assist us on registration. We did not use the restaurant but have no complaints regarding the cost of our two night stay.

My room was good, very quiet on the 4th floor, air conditioning good but at night the thick Duvet insulated it from me , nice staff. room was clean. I did not dine in so no comment, there was lots of choice outside . No problem getting a parking space but it might be a problem if the hotel was full. There is lots of shopping around the hotel, restaurants a few minutes walk in front of the hotel shopping behind.

Ok so the good bits, really comfy bed, rooms were clean and location excellent. The bad bits, Air con controls were smashed and broken so could not be switched off or turned down which kept us awake. Lots of noise from the room above into the night. Hairdryer was broken. These no designated reception, automated check in, the staff were running backwards and forwards between the pub and the hotel (opposite sides of the road with no line of sight) so food service was atrocious and there were long waits if you wanted to try and report anything in the hotel (such as hairdryer). I had changed my booking to a family room before arrival but the room I was allocated by the auto check in was a twin, as it happens the child that was coming didn’t in the end so this didn’t matter but it could have been a massive problem for us. Don’t even bother trying to eat in the restaurant, the staff are also trying to manage hotel reception and room service so service is atrocious, the “chefs” have no idea what is in the dishes and the food quality is passable at best. It took hours to get our food which then arrived cold as it had been standing waiting for staff to come back from the hotel and bring it to us. This was at a time when there were only 4 tables occupied in the restaurant. I would stay again but I definitely wouldn’t eat there.

Late check-in after a wedding reception, but staff were readily available as soon as we arrived - very friendly and welcoming. The room was clean and tidy. We did find out the next day though, that our family members who were also staying at the hotel received gift bundles containing party rings / colouring packs. So it was disappointing that we didn't receive the same treatment.

We stayed in a Premier plus room. Lovely and comfy,complimentary bottles of water in fridge and 2 small chocolates.. Excellent sleep ,air conditioning very good. Reception very helpful,all staff worked hard and were friendly. Breakfast was very good ,the restaurant is separate from hotel but just across the car park ,all food at breakfast was excellent. Would definitely stay again. A very short walk to gloucester quays shopping and restaurants..
