Gloucester (Barnwood) hotel

Room had a damp, musty smell which wouldn't go despite windows opening.... Air con was pretty poor. Decor was very tired with lots of cobwebs on surfaces. Bathroom had obviously had a major leak in the past and was in need of work. We were in the area for a family funeral so didn't want the hassle of complaining! On the plus side, the bedding was clean and the breakfast was excellent.

We stayed for a night to split a long drive between the north and south, and have done previously too. The welcome was especially warm this time, with a friendly check-in, always appreciated and especially so with potentially cranky children in tow. The room was a good size for us (two adults, two younger children) and the beds are supremely comfortable; my eldest work and said they thought they were at home because of how comfortable they were, and they don't usually sleep well first night away. Breakfast was easy (though worth calling in advance to book a time if you may arrive on the later side and has quite specific timings; we did this time as previously had to pick either an early table or quite a late table which didn't suit as well). A good range at the buffet, hot and cold, nice and fresh, and they had extra fans set up to keep the dining room cool enough in the very warm weather. The bedroom temperature was completely fine.

The location was a short taxi ride from the train station. The room was a decent size, pretty spacious. (Ample room for them to place a small fridge for guests to use for drinks). The bed was pretty comfortable, I asked to an iron and ironing board as I didn't have them in the room. I've never stayed at a Premier Inn before, all in all, it was good value for money. The only things that made me mark it down was the rainfall shower, as I do not like to get my hair wet unnecessarily. Also, the lack of fridge in the room.

Really enjoyed my stay at Gloucester Barnwood Premier Inn. The room was clean, comfortable and had everything I needed. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and check in was quick and easy. Breakfast was also really good, with lots of choice and everything was fresh and tasty. Overall, a great stay and I would definitely come back again.

So much for a good night sleep guaranteed! Was about 25 degrees outside and no air con was working, we didn’t want to go downstairs at 2am as we didn’t want to wake our toddler by someone coming in, turning the light on and messing around with it. We went downstairs in the morning and complained about this and then was told to email guest relations. Didn’t get an email back within 8 days which is what should happen so had to reach out on social media to get a response just to say we weren’t entitled to a refund. Apparently the manager said there was no issues with the room and that the air con was working which it wasn’t as it was blowing out warm air and we even felt dizzy in the room because it was that warm in their, yet still not entitled to a refund! Please do not stay here at the staff lie to you!!! Will be taking this further.
