"Not too sure .............."
First impressions with the scaffolding weren’t great and it looked as though it had been there for quite a while. Matthew was very hospitable & welcoming on the couple of occasions that we spoke with him. My room was acceptable but the friend who I had travelled with showed me that her room had obviously not been cleaned as what I saw in the toilet was disgusting. Derek (Manager) offered her a drink or breakfast as some sort of compensation which she declined; after what had been left in the toilet it seemed safer to avoid any food & drink in the hotel.
"Recommended"
Beds are exceptional and we were well catered for as a family with the right amount of beds. All of the beds were comfortable. Staff were lovely and keen to do a good job. Nice breakfast.
"Friendly Helpful Reception. Clean & Well Presented Throughout"
Friendly Helpful Reception. Clean & Well Presented Throughout Reception friendly and helpful. The room was ready, clean and well presented as was the rest of the hotel. Parking is a 10 minute walk and Expensive (£13 per night 2025) Well placed for everything in Cheltenham Town Centre The windows do not open. Fortunately the aircon was working and efficient so not a problem here. Can be a serious problem in other P I hotels. One lift is out of action and has been for 4 WEEKS. Have experienced this at other PI hotels and it is not good. VFM will depend upon what you pay. Good at off peak rates.
"A sub par hotel"
For a premier inn, this was one of the worst I've stayed in. When we checked in there were no bar staff, it was 6pm. Turns out the bar staff were also the reception staff. Some other staff members were lounging in the bar and I assume off duty but were rude and unhelpful. When we did eventually get a drink the staff member had no idea which drinks were included in the happy hour. Lainey was helpful however. The rooms are below standard and we had to move room to a severe bad odour. Our new room also had an odour but we didn't have the energy to move again. The location is good but no free parking nearby. The beds are comfortable but that's about it. The rooms weren't very clean either. A shame as it lets down the name of this chain.
"Never Again!"
Apart from the central location in Cheltenham, this hotel has very little to recommend it. There is nowhere to park nearby in order to unload luggage, and the car park is a good long way to walk with cases and luggage for elderly guests. We had booked a Premier Room but, apart from the fridge, nothing was premium. The bed was too small and there was only one easy chair. The man at the desk sent up another chair from the bar but that wasn’t ideal. The breakfast was atrocious. On both mornings the ‘chef’ had stopped cooking by 9am and had left the hot stuff to get cold and congeal. All the three staff members just lounged on easy chairs, gossiping and drinking tea or coffee. We will never stop here again. It was incredibly expensive at more than £200 per night.
