"Comfort and cleanliness at a generous price"
Just an overnight stay for my Mom and I, before a morning flight. Lovely room, big comfortable bed, felt very secure. We availed of the shuttle bus (£4 each way from Bay 19 at Stansted Airport) that was reliable and very quick to and from airport terminal. It was worth our while to overnight here, than take an early train from our home town at peak time. So a leisurely pace to catch our late morning flight.
"Understaffed but lovely food"
Currently staying here overnight ready for our flight to egypt tomorrow. We had booked a table in advance, it took 45 minutes to get our first drink and order our starters, we had noticed people in the queue behind us getting there drink and starter way before we did. We spoke to a lady who was in charge and apologised for this. She informed us they were very understaffed with no management, she had been delegated to be Duty manager . We could see she was very busy, leading front of house and taking people's orders for food and drink. We overheard quite a few complaints about the lack of service in the restaurant tonight. We have been staying here twice a year for 9 years and never witnessed it being so understaffed. Management should be ashamed of allowing so many bookings with 3 staff in the restaurant on the floor. The lady who served us should be recognised for all her hard work ( blonde, short hair) Lovely food just unimpressed with timings .
"Familiar consistent quality but unforeseen extras"
Premier Inns are understandably popular as they provide decent bedrooms, with comfortable beds and prices that compare favourably with smaller chains or independents that provide similar facilities. The example at Stansted airport is typical and mostly caters for people who are flying out or have just arrived from abroad i.e. one-night stays. I chose it as it was perfectly positioned for some of my work in the area and stayed four nights. Most aspects were fine, although the 'continental' breakfast is hardly what a citizen of Paris, Amsterdam or Bucharest would recognise under that title. The choice of drinks in the bar is also formulaic and of poor quality. My gripes are twofold: a) Internet connection was vital for me for work, but the free WiFi connection was poor, and upgrading to the premium account (which worked well) cost £5 a day after the first day. It also seemed that something was interfering with 4G or 5G mobile data, when I tried to use that to access the internet. b) I may have missed the information during my booking but the £20 per night parking charge came as an unwelcome surprise. I was only charged for three (not all four) nights, but even so that was a cost I felt unmerited and levied when the customer has already been 'captured'. Thus, fine as far as it goes, but I left feeling rather manipulated in the way that extras turn up on low budget airline bills.
"Perfect Pre holiday stay"
Stayed for the night pre holiday. Paul checked us in. What a lovely, polite professional man. He was so helpful and had us checked in very quickly. Room was beautifully clean and comfortable. Couldn’t ask for a better start to our holiday. Thanks so much, we will certainly be returning.
