"Excellent customer service"

Having prebooked 2 nights at the Premier Inn i needed to change the 2nd night as Id heard the covid rate had increased in Essex. The member of staff on reception on Sun 13th Dec 2020 was very helpful indeed. Going out of her way to help alter my booking. I shall be returning to Southend in the near future and as a result using Premier Inn again. All of the reception staff here are polite and friendly.Much needed in such stressful times.

Comfortable mattress. Hotel very clean. Had to stay here for 4 nights in early December due to a minor domestic 'emergency'. Charlene (if I remember correctly) allowed me to book in at 11.00 a.m. which was helpful. Lauren was helpful in printing out luggage slips for a suitcase to be collected and transported to Lancashire. Another blonde lady was helpful in keeping my suitcase at reception for collection by the courier so I didn't have to stay in my room or near the hotel all day waiting for it to be picked up. Tesco Extra nearby - 5 minutes' walk. Restaurant next to the hotel. cooked breakfast of good quality and very good value.

Clean, inexpensive hotel with good Beefeater right next door. High light of the stay was having breakfast served by Jeanette who is professional, efficient, hardworking and kind. Definitely recommend. Thank you Jeanette!

"5* Staff but Requires Improvement"

Another pleasant visit to Premiere Inn, of which I’m now becoming a fan of! Rather than the romantic ‘trip for two’ in Cambridge Premiere Inn, this is a family friendly version. It is in a quiet location for easy access to Southend on Sea, without the bother of navigating through the crowds and listening to the night tourists and locals. There is a Beefeater next door with a Tesco in walking distance. Main roads into Southend close by. My room came with a Chais Lounge that kids would love to bounce on with the TV to keep them entertained whilst trying to get ready in the morning. The building and staff are family friendly and it feels homely. However, before one rushes to book... Be aware that any children will be playing ‘bam bam’ with the bang-bang of the doors. While the kids are having fun it may not turn out to be the lovely visit you had hoped for. Bring headache remedies for yourself. If visiting on business, the same would apply. For me, it was quiet at the Inn but I still jumped at one guest’s door slamming upstairs. This is easily solved by Mr/Mrs Premiere. Do better with that Inn of yours. Whilst the price was generous in theory, I would say it was perhaps about right. There were stains on the towels (see picture) However, because the staff were so lovely and willing to be helpful in meeting any of my needs, this was easily resolved by asking the cleaner for another towel. There was also a problem with the swipe card system when I booked for a second night. Worry not! The helpful staff sorted it! No fuss! Whilst the Cambridge Hotel had a pleasant smell, my Southend room smelled ‘frowsy’ on entering. Less ‘Lady of the Manor’ and more ‘A boy’s been in here’. This is easily sorted and so requires improvement. You may wish to know that IKEA know all about this with their themed ‘room smells’. Premiere Inn Southend could learn from this. Please do not decide to make Premiere Inn smell like a stable! Be more ‘Premiere’ and less an ‘Inn’ from the past! A lady also needs hair conditioner as a little bit of a lovely and thoughtful welcome. Your WiFi was also under ‘maintenance’ and this is not adequate when visiting on business. I had to 3G ‘I’m a Celeb’! The room was otherwise more than adequate. Clean. The toilet could do with a toilet brush though. The staff also left me alone without cleaning my room on day two. Not everyone wants to be served in their room. They were more than happy to provide me with my daily coffee and sugar when I asked! This also came in an eco friendly bag! Premiere Inn staff clearly know how to be inoffensive and do what they do well. Small things count, just like me! I thought it was lovely that there were two staff at work and I was informed this is 24/7 staffing arrangement. It’s nice to have a colleague during the night, at the most quiet time! Please note this comment comes from someone who has never worked in a hotel but whom has spent many nights working my shifts. My last thought relates to the advertised air conditioning that was most certainly not air conditioning. The dusty object displayed in the picture shows something that was not blowing anything out. This is disappointing. Why has Premiere Inn failed to standardise all hotels with effective temperature control? It is miserable to be a guest or staff member in sweltering, stuffy, dirty, polluted British Summer heat. Given it lasts all of two weeks, sometimes twice, one supposes you could shut during the hottest weeks? Alternatively you could drop your prices to accommodate in apology for this? Stayed for four nights found the room excellent standard all the staff very helpful especially claire who managed to organize my evening meal when the restaurant was fully booked cannot praise them high enough under the present challenging circumstances thanks tommy
