Chelmsford City Centre hotel

I checked in on the 25/07/26 at the hotel. Due to the bad experience of being given a room that smelt of damp and room was musky. Going to two members of staff looking at me like I had gone mad and no apology. Then telling me and my mum to go to the bar/reception and wait there to speak to another member to change the room then asking if we had used in anything in the room. So looks like they were going to give that room to someone else. Wouldn’t you think they would want to go and check it out. They looked like management. Then had to repeat ourselves again to the man at the bar/desk. Looked at me strange again no apology. Went to the new room and could not use the cups as scratches and dirty with dirty spoons. Massive mark on the table, remote control had tape stuck to the back of it. Sink plug hole was all scummy with dirt. By then I was not going to keep going up and down the lift to try and find a member staff that didn’t care. Specially I had my 72 year old mum with me and didn’t want to put stress on her. We both didn’t sleep well due to bed being uncomfortable and the noise of humming during the night. I kept waking up every hour. I have been to many premier inns and my mum too. I have never had this sort of experience and had now put my mum off and myself. I don’t like complaining but it has to be addressed for future people staying. When leaving the hotel there was traces of food at the entrance. I have pictures for proof.

I know premier inn market on the basis they are all the same but Chelmsford stands out as being significantly better than the average. The breakfast chef deserves a special mention as there is clearly dedication to an excellent standard of cooking as well as a friendly greeting from the kitchen.

On arrival, no staff around. Attempted check in on check in screen - but they did not recognise my booking. Pressed the buzzer- no mber of staff came. Pressed again 5 mins later. Eventually after waiting 15-20 mins a member of staff came to check me in. After that I needed an iron and ironing board. None available. Waited for 15 mins whilst a member of staff kindly tried to find one. Sadly she came back with one that was covered with a link sticky substance on the bottom so couldn’t be used. Thankfully another customer then came downstairs, over heard and offered for me to collect one from her room. Very little available on the hot breakfast the next day. Left my bag, came back to collect it. Again no member of staff present. Waited 10-15mins before someone returned and I could collect my bag.

Staff were amazing. So friendly very helpful and happy throughout the entire week. Great vibes in the hotel. Clean and cool. Fantastic crew.

great location next to the train station and close to restaurants etc. Clean, good room size and very clean. The Entrance could be a bot more welcoming.
