Super . Great staff, clean rooms, good food , comfy bed . Only one criticism. If rooms have windows that don t open , the air con has to be good. Ours had a mind of its own and was very noisy . Interesting that the one in the bar seemed very good.

Check in was great and easy but the condition of the room was poor . The bathroom door housing had been damaged/forced open at some point. The bathroom sinks had cracks. The bedroom furniture had damaged/peeling veneer and the chair to sit on was stained . Overall a poor reflection on the usual premier inn standards . The room was obviously in need of refurbishing.if your paying £100 a night you would have expected a higher standard in the room .

I only had one night at the Premier Inn in Chelmsford, after attending wedding. Check in was very smooth, despite it being after 12pm. Staff were very helpful and I even had a night cap in the bar. Found the room for two very spacious and comfortable. I really liked the decor and the general feel of place. The breakfast the next morning was good, however they could have kept the bacon flowing because it kept on running out. All in all a very pleasurable stay and I would book again.

I specifically booked an adapted room at Premier Inn Chelmsford City because I am a powerchair user. Instead, I ended up having to attempt to sleep in my wheelchair. The bed in the accessible room was so low that I could not safely transfer onto it. I went to reception at around 4.30pm and was told the bed could not be raised, I could not be given an extra mattress, and no alternative solution was offered. I was effectively told that accessible rooms have low beds for manual wheelchair users, while standard rooms have beds that are too high. So where exactly was I supposed to sleep? I spent the night in my powerchair, hardly sleeping at all. By morning my feet were swollen, I was in significant pain and so exhausted that we checked out a day early. I then had to miss the concert we had travelled to Chelmsford to attend, losing £70 in tickets. My friend had travelled from Norwich to meet me and also had to return home early. The problems didn’t stop there. The bathroom door was extremely heavy and wouldn’t open fully, forcing me to squeeze my brand-new powerchair through a tiny gap and scratching it. When we moved the bed to try to make a transfer possible, we found thick dust and used condom wrappers underneath. The room was also unbearably hot and the cooling system made little difference. I was also staying on the fourth floor, dependent on the lift, yet nobody discussed a Personal Emergency Evacuation Plan with me. What makes this even more frustrating is that the toilet was the perfect height for a powerchair user — so clearly someone understood accessibility, just not when it came to the most important thing in a hotel room: the bed. I booked an accessible room so I could sleep safely before a special event. Instead, I spent the night in my wheelchair, was left in pain and swelling, checked out early and missed the event entirely. An accessible room should not simply be a room with grab rails. It should actually be accessible. Premier Inn seriously needs to review what “accessible” means, because no disabled guest should book an adapted room and be left with nowhere safe to sleep.

Great refurb of the bar area - not a fan of self check in as machines often aren’t working As usual premier inn operating on a Skelton staff which isn’t fair to the team trying to balance dinner service and Check ins and the bar- this is a general observation of premier inn Beds super comfy good location to the station and giolio is a great example of what premier inn should be aiming for in terms of customer service - stellar employee and if you can replicate him across every location you will be a competitor to other value brands
