"Cheap is expensive (and it’s not cheap)!"
A Wednesday night in Basildon, the hottest day ever, staying in a very downmarket, ??hotel?? In Basildon The Premier Inn is not a great experience. Where do I start, the place is falling apart (see pictures) and there is no A/C!! Come on guys this is supposed to be the 21st century. But it’s cheap I hear you say, £195.99 for one person (including breakfast), I think £60 would be too much. I probably won’t bother with breakfast as I just want to get out ASAP. in the morning. I thought this might be an upgrade to the TravelLodge just round the corner which was much cheaper. Surly TravelLodge can’t be worse than this?
So, At the end of the day, when you’re all done in, do not stay in a Premier Inn!

"Highly recommend- thanks Aymen"
Great customer service. Firstly this was a great location as I as visiting my mother in the cardio centre in Basildon. Just a few miles away.
Free parking once registered reg at reception. Lots of eating options at pub (Quay’s pub next door & leisure park a few mins away)
Due to staff issues, my room was not cleaned or ready when I checked in to it. This was very quickly rectified with new room allocation & big apology. Wasn’t a big deal as was dealt with so swiftly. In addition l was given free breakfast for my 2 night stay as an apology. Above and beyond as I didn’t ask for anything and didn’t cause a fuss.
Aymen was the very helpful reception manager & his sympathy towards my distressing situation with my mum n hospital was touching. Aymen demonstrated outstanding customer service and is so friendly and has the human kindness we all need in bad times. A little goes a long way. After my mums op, Aymen asked how she was, how I was & took time to listen to me. This was great for me as I was on my own.
Amen went to the trouble of bringing chilled water to my room during this heatwave. Again - I didn’t need to ask - just a very thoughtful thing to do.
I was also able to register my sisters car for the day to take the pressure off of hospital parking. Although we didn’t need this in the end - it really helped our peace of mind.
As always, the room was clean & very comfortable. No air con but a powerful fan is provided.
I ate in the adjoining pub which was lovely pub food and welcoming of a solo female. I felt very comfortable there.
I highly recommend this premier inn for customer service, cleanliness, customer service,& comfort.
Thanks Aymen for looking after me & going the extra mile. If there a staff award to be given - it goes to you.
All other reception & breakfast staff were all very efficient, friendly & welcoming too. Thanks to you all for making a very difficult time as comfortable as possible.

"Noooooooooooo!"
Hard to describe how bad this was. Shocking is an understatement.
We arrived to scaffolding all around the hotel. On entry, the hotel stunk. The two women at reception showed little to no interest. We got the key to our room and noticed how dirty and smelly everything was in the corridor. The room was worse. Dirty carpet, dust, marked furnishings, mould in the bathroom...scummy.
We took pictures, turned around, went to reception, asked for a refund and checked out. The girls were very unhelpful as they did not immediately check us out and we had to make a phone call, go back to reception to complete our leaving
I pre paid the room and asked Premier Inns to refund my £221. They have refunded me £38? Thankfully, I stayed at the Holiday Inn only a few hundred yards away. It was worth the loss not to stay at the 'Premier' Inn. This 'hotel' is FUBAR. You have been warned.
