"Awful"
Returned to basildon for a funeral after moving away 6 years ago. We spent most weekends eating at the watermill, it was our go to place when we lived there.
Absolutely disgusted with how awful it is now. Will never be back. Dog poo outside entrance to premier that sat there for 2 days, glass everywhere, weeds, food disgusting, table sticky. Run in to the ground!! Do not waste your money

"A hot weekend in Basildon"
The hotel us not equiped with air conditioning, though iur riim was provied with two fans .
It is starting to show its age at 40 years old.
The room was spotless. The staff were very polite and eager to help. The meals in the restruraunt were good value and the breakfast was very filling.
Overall a nice hotel.

"Sub par"
Friendly staff, but overall not a good experience. Visit was during a heat wave, so room was unbelievably hot with only a weak stand up fan to cool down. Window was wide open when we checked in so the room was hotter than outside with no aircon mean it was impossible to cool the room down. To top it off, no shower gel in the room as this had been forgotten when the room was cleaned.

"Very disappointing stay, not the standard expected from Premier Inn"
We recently stayed at this hotel and unfortunately it was a very frustrating experience from start to finish.
Upon arrival, we tried to enter our room only to find that the cleaners were still preparing it, which immediately gave a poor first impression. The check-in process itself was also slow, with over 15 minutes’ wait before we were even attended to.
Once we finally got into the room, the temperature was unbearable and made it very uncomfortable to relax. On top of that, the room itself felt extremely dated and in need of serious refurbishment, with visible wear and tear throughout.
The issues continued into the next morning. After ordering a cooked breakfast, we were left waiting for over an hour for it to arrive, which is simply unacceptable. There was also no fresh juice available, which added to the disappointing breakfast experience.
To make matters worse, we were charged for parking, something that was not advertised at the time of booking, leaving us feeling misled.
Overall, this stay fell well below the usual standard we expect from Premier Inn. We have honestly had better experiences at Travelodge, which says a lot. Sadly, we wouldn’t return or recommend this property based on our experience.

"Honest review"
We returned home after spending nights at the hotel. Due to summer heat the nights were horrible. The hotel is not air conitioned, the fans provided by the hotels were of little help. The beds were comfortable. The bath tubs were high with no handshowers and stopper. There were no shower caps. There was neither a phone nor a fridge in the room. I guess the height of the bath tub can cause problem for guests with hip problem. Though we were charged for the breakfast but there no boiled eggs and milk. Atleast twice there was no yoghurt and fruit supply was limited too. The tables outside the hotel with umbrellas were not clean and the area was dirty and littered with cigarrete butts. The room was not cleaned eveyday. I would like to mention that two of the staff members/receptionists Heather and Jackie were excellent.
