"One night stay with a very friendly reception on arrival."
We stayed at this Premier Inn for one night recently. Loved the friendly greeting on arriving. I know how important this is as I have worked as a front of house reception in a health care setting. Check In was great and efficient. Lovely clean room as expected from the Premier Inn brand. Just before going to the restaurant I asked the lady at reception if I could possibly have a shower slip mat. She replied 'no problem', she would have one ready for me after our meal and she did! I thought the customer service was excellent.
However, sadly the evening meal experience was not so good. For some reason the man taking our meal order at the bar got something very wrong and only one meal appeared (husbands!). We ordered mine again and eventually it did appear. My husband asked if we could have a free dessert to compensate for the mistake and that was duly accepted. I would have given 5 stars for our overall experience had it not been for the mistake with our meal order. I would stay here again as it's near family and we are always happy to stay at any Premier Inn.

"Good but disappointing"
Every Premier Inn I’ve stayed in has been great, this one lets the side down. On arrival, after a long and tiring drive from the North West of the country, first impressions were good. Reception was clean and tidy, and the staff were great. Went to our rooms and it went a bit down hill from there. Mum booked a room with an accessible shower but had been given a standard in the bath one, but lady on reception changed her room with no problems. Both of our rooms looked clean, but the lovely fancy lights in both of our rooms revealed lots of dust everywhere. Mums shower was mouldy, and the entire bathroom looked dated. My room was clean but also had a layer of dust on most surfaces, the bathroom door had something splashed down it, and the mirror looked like it had been wiped with a dirty cloth. All the bedding was lovely and fresh, but both rooms, and all the corridors had chipped paint. If you’re in a downstairs room be warned that you’ll get a LOT of noise from above, my room was next to one of the team member rooms, and sadly I was woken at 2am by someone coming in and out of the room banging the fire door every time, and if you’re on the front of the building you’ll get woken at dawn by a large gang of pigeons making a constant racket. The restaurant again VERY dated, not the cleanest, there wasn’t much on the menu for tea that they actually had in, and both the evening meal and the breakfast wasn’t really very warm at all. Overall the stay has been ok, but unfortunately I now have to complete a long drive back up north after 2 nights of very little sleep, and I’m a little disappointed after staying in so many lovely premier inn’s elsewhere in the country. Time for a refresh of this one, and of the pub too

"More interested in profit than customer service"
We travelled to Newhaven on the 5th May 2026 for my daughter's wedding and booked the Premier Inn Newhaven.
After a 150 mile drive we arrived around 1.00 pm and was told that even though the rooms were ready, we would have to pay an extra £15 per room if we wanted to check in before 3.00 pm.
We were also told that they are not allowed to give us any room upgrades without an additional payment from us, even though they were not fully booked and those rooms would remain vacant.
Another thing that we learnt was that the sole person on reception, now has to strip the beds in the rooms as well as managed the reception with the aid of a pager linked to the call button on reception.
It would appear that the new CEO of Premier Inns is responsible for these changes. Maybe he should learn what "Customer Service" is in the leisure industry.
We have stayed many times in Premier Inns all over the Country, but I do not think that I will use them again if this is the way that they now want to treat their customers.
P.s. as a last note I would like to say that Amelia and Skylar on reception were most helpful and the only reason that my rating was not a 2.

"Great location for ferry port"
Great location for ferry port. Quick check in. Efficient service. Room clean and spotless bathroom. We ate in the adjoining pub. Good value for money pub grub. Strange that it closed at 10pm !. Efficient check out. The only thing that lets the hotel down is the rubbish and mess on approach walkways. Disgusting. I would recommend the hotel
