Hull West hotel

Nice hotel in a good location. Lots of car parking. Staff were friendly and efficient. Decent breakfast which was free for kids. Only issue was the room was too hot and we couldn't work the air con. Overall would stay here again.

Visited the newly open Spoons. Impressed and we’ll definitely return. So much nicer than local town spoons. Great value and our food was hot, fresh and 10/10.

We have stayed at Hull West at least once a year for about 5 years or so. The staff have always been helpful and polite - they were on this occasion too. However, it seems the attached restaurant/pub had been sold to Wetherspoons and it had opened just two days before our stay. We arrived to find several large rubbish skips blocking the disabled parking bays, which we use to accommodate my wife's mobility needs. Between the disabled parking and the front door were about a dozen beer barrels that apparently abandoned there due to an over delivery - another unnecessary obstacle; why the barrels were in the Premier Inn car park and not that of the pub is not known. There was a sign advising that the pub closed at 11.30pm, so it was clear that there was already a problem a problem identified and so the noise from those drinking in the pub garden area proved to be. All these are outside the purview of the staff who could only acknowledge the issues. Apparently, the Premier Inn manager had also agreed to provide more space for the Wetherspoons rubbish - hardly going to rectify the issue for guests. On top of all this the toilet in our room somehow continued to drain all night (somehow without overflowing) but the staff had no means to address it and no alternative room for us to use so we just had to put up with that noise too.

Visited the newly opened Weatherspoons public house attached to the hotel. Typical of any of Weatherspoons public houses. Well kept beers and spirits, at very reasonable prices. The problem was the lack of staff, and obviously still undergoing training. I am sure it will improve given time. Great area for parking, but don’t forget to register your car when you go in. We will call again, and I am sure they will sort out the staffing issue.

I would like to start by saying that the hotel was well located and the staff members couldn’t do enough for you. Therefore why not a 5 star review, well that’s because the room was so hot and all the hotel could do was provide a floor fan. The fan was about has much use as a “CHOCOLATE FIRE GUARD” because it was very noisy and only capable of recycling hot air.
