"Disappointed by a Usually Reliable Choice - worse breakfast ever."
We’ve always chosen Premier Inn for overnight stays before travel, as the rooms and breakfast are usually reliable. Unfortunately, this time was very different. We booked Premier Inn Poole North for a stopover before catching the ferry to Guernsey. On arrival, we easily found a parking space and checked in using the self-service kiosk. Our room was easy to locate and pleasantly cool on such a hot day. We made tea and relaxed on the comfortable bed before heading out for dinner at the quayside. When we returned around 9 p.m., parking was more difficult, but we eventually found a space. I use a sleeping aid that requires a plug socket, and unfortunately, there wasn’t one near the bed — just a USB port that didn’t fit my phone. My husband asked at reception and was told this was a common issue. They provided an extension lead. We slept reasonably well, though doors could be heard slamming until 2 a.m. and again from 7 a.m. The biggest disappointment was breakfast. I had paid in advance, so we stayed, but it was the worst breakfast experience we’ve had at a Premier Inn. Although breakfast was available until 11 a.m., we arrived at 10 a.m. to find dirty tables and a very limited cold drink selection for such a large hotel. Once a table was cleaned for us, I found the cereal aimed mostly at children. The granola was reduced to crumbs. When I asked for a refill, it was replaced with a very basic version — and the usual extras like berries and yoghurt were sparse or missing. The berry selection was never restocked, despite guests continuing to arrive. My husband tried the cooked breakfast: while the sausage was nice, there was no bacon, the eggs were oily, and the beans and mushrooms looked dried out. I opted for toast but only found dry crusts left in the wholemeal loaf. After requesting so many items be replenished, I simply made the best of what was available. There were a few satsumas and some yoghurts left. The coffee was weak and lukewarm, and when I tried to refill it, the machine had stopped working. This was the largest Premier Inn I’ve stayed in — and sadly, the worst. I’m now reconsidering whether Premier Inn will be our go-to for overnight stops in the future. Very disappointing.
      "As expected"
Just had a pleasant stay, having booked 2 rooms both were allocated on the 2nd close to one another, did request ground floor but thankfully lift due to knee injury. Rooms were cleaned airy and the bed was extremely comfortable. The bathroom did let it down a bit in the room we had, the toilet seat had bad stain on and the rim of the toilet when in the bath you could see did have quite a bit of yuck and need some bleach or good clean. Breakfast was ok, but my son-in-law ordered poached eggs, and these never arrived, the buffet wasn't replenished regularly enough and ran out of quite a few things. Location is very good, we used the ferry to go over to Swanage, great base and would use again, as we have done previously. Check in was a bit of a faff, only one check in machine working, problem with our booking causing bit of wait for other customers, as there isn't a specific reception, they did check us in then at the bar.
"Pleased overall with our 4 night stay"
Location fine for us. On arrival we were happy to have an apology and be offered a change of room straight away when we reported it hadn’t been cleaned properly. Staff go out of their way to make sure you’re happy and supplied with everything you need. Plenty to choose from the menu although some healthier dinner choices and more gluten-free options would have been appreciated. Generous portions.
      "Overnight stay"
Special thanks to Luisa who looked after me following an accident. Would not have managed without her. Very pleasant hotel, ideally situated lots of easy parking, close to the town. I stayed prior to catching the early morning Britanny ferry. Only a 10 min run to the port. Great value.
