"1st rate stay, comfort and a filling food menu"
The family room was supremely comfortable and wonderfully clean - just as promised by Sir Lenny in the ads, food was top notch - as a family, we ate an evening meal and a hearty breakfast!
    "Most staff moody and unhelpful"
I called ahead and asked if there was a chance I could pay and book a room with view, as I had initially missed this when booking. I was told that this was not possible because of health and safety on the 4th floor (not sure what this meant). I asked if we could be on one of the upper floors then as we like to be high (I don’t feel as though I should be judged on this but they made me feel like an idiot for asking) So the lady said she would see if she could put us on the 3rd floor. We have previously stayed at this hotel and stayed in a room that had a door adjoining to another room. Upon checking in the rather grumpy lady asked if we needed 1 or 2 rooms so I confirmed 1 and we were allocated a room on level 2. I was told very sternly that this was the highest they could get us. I assume we were allocated the room we had previously b stayed in and the lady who checked us in moved us. That was frustrating. We then went to reception at 830pm and asked for towel and were told it would be brought up, at about 10pm we went down again and were told they would bring it up, it never arrived! When I mentioned this and requested it again, I had to mention it 3 times before I gained an abrupt apology, and this was only done because I kept in about it (as per my previous stay at Barnstaple I know they like you to mention your not happy at the time, which is not easy when the staff are so indifferent ). The only positive about the stay was a young man with long brown hair, I didn’t catch his name but he was incredibly helpful and very polite, I my is a shame that all the staff are not like him. We had awful noise from the room above but didn’t bother complaining as I didn’t want to be belittled and nothing would be done anyway! In regards to parking, we parked by the church, it was free 6pm-9am and then you have 2 hours free so we had until 11am each morning.
"If I were you don’t stay at this hotel!!"
I would not recommend this hotel at all. There was old blood on the children’s duvet. Which to be fair was replaced quickly when we told them but it should have been checked before hand. We had a breakfast which was horrible and gave us all bad stomachs. The bathroom smelt bad. Also not very sound proof as could hear everyone walking around above us all the time, disturbing our sleep. Car parking is expensive Also you have to leave the car park right by the hotel after just 1 hours parking. This is an impossible time to pack the car as I couldn’t use the multi story as we have a roof box on top so wouldn’t fit the car in the car park. Most staff were unhelpful except for Logan who was really helpful. We certainly won’t be coming back.
    "Close to perfect!"
This premier inn is one of the best..it's super clean and quiet with wonderful staff..I recommend staying here. My children's harder a twin room and we hired a double. We had breakfast open morning and it was really delicious.
"Great place to base from if your travelling around Devon"
Bathroom let it down kept smelling urine. Think it was from the stack ?? Had to keep cleaning it Other than that it is a great place nice little town and staff were always nice to talk to and extremely helpful
