Paignton South (Brixham Road) hotel

A mixed bag. Friendly staff, good location, good breakfast for all four of us (free for the grandchildren), and comfortable beds, but the overall experience was let down by defective air-conditioning on a hot night that made sleeping difficult. This is a shame because good a/c has been my experience in stays in Premier Inns. When the problem was reported at Reception on check-out from our one-night stay, I was told '"oh, we have someone coming in to look at [the air-conditioning]" implying the issue was known about beforehand. A pity we weren't offered a different room if that was the case. Premier Inns usually offer a good night's sleep, but just not this time.

Location is ideal with easy parking. Bus easy into Paignton and surrounding areas. Cons - family room, only 1 large towel. Annoying have to ask for more. The desk isn’t staffed full time so have to wait for check and ring bell for assistance. The room was scabby and needs maintenance when customers are paying premium prices.

Stayed for a week, Fab location seemed a bit out the way but was ok, quiet area, close to a Lidl, Asda, Sainsbury, Greggs, Costa, Mc Donald's, was driving so accessed everywhere we needed but have seen local regular busses. All staff very welcoming and friendly nothing too much trouble, big thanks to Kieron for all his help & advice (good luck with your course, keep.going 😊). Rooms nice size,clean & bright, (thanks to domestic team, doing a fab job) air con (or heat), hairdryer provided, kettle, Tv & iron & ironing board provided when asked for at reception. Nice buffet breakfast or continental, other meals & bar too (beefeater restaurant).

Booked as a last minute decision to stay an extra night on our weeks holiday in the area as some family had just arrived. It was the cheapest premier inn in the area and location wise close enough to said family. We literally only slept there with our young son, which considering the awful smell of damp in the room when we entered and the state of the rotting window sill was all we could take. Also one added bonus the room had aircon a godsend from the heatwave outside. I wouldn’t stay here again and would chose to stay in another hotel in the area. Staff were ok on checkin, but I’ve had much service and interaction in other hotels.

Very clean hotel. On first glimpse it doesn’t look very inviting from the main road side. Greeted at reception by a young man who was very helpful. Car park huge and plenty of spaces although the Beefeater restaurant next door gets very busy. Room was very clean and everything we needed. The mattress was unbelievably comfy. Tempted to order a silent night mattress ourselves! Pillows comfy too. Shower great, kettle with tea/coffee etc. Lidl nearby for extras if you need them. Would definitely co aider returning . The only possible negative things are- No usb points in room and we forgot to pack usb plug. Fortunately Reception had a spare someone had left so we borrowed that and returned it when we left. Also the machines in reception which sold snacks and drinks were both out of order. Other than that a great stay!
