Newton Abbot hotel

I had to stay at the hotel unexpectedly after missing the final train home, and unfortunately the experience was disappointing from start to finish. When I arrived at reception, I was told I had to book online rather than being able to book directly with the receptionist, which already felt inconvenient after a stressful evening. Once we got to the room, the air conditioning would not stay on for longer than around 10 minutes at a time, making the room very uncomfortable and leading to a poor night’s sleep. Later that evening, we returned to reception to buy toothpaste and toothbrushes. While waiting to pay, the receptionist disappeared for around 15 minutes without explanation, and eventually we gave up and left. The following morning at breakfast, the staff member serving us was very cold and unwelcoming. She repeatedly sighed while collecting plates, which made us feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. Overall, the stay did not meet expectations, particularly in terms of customer service and room comfort.

The restaurant was under staffed and the wait for food was unacceptable. It would appear that the loss of the adjacent Beefeater was the cause but the kitchen, with just two ovens, could not cope. The room itself was the usual good standard but for an Expelair in the bathroom that did not work. Parking is excellent.

Ah, thank you so much to Amanda and Lewis who have been absolutely fabulous. So friendly and welcoming, they get to know you and couldn't be more helpful. You make my visits so much nicer when working away from home on my own. I've loved the giggles... keep that corner reserved for me 😁 To Josh who I have met a couple of times at breakfast...again friendly and welcoming. And to Corrina who was wonderful to talk to on Tuesday evening. Beautiful soul. To the chefs, your food is lovely. I haven't had a bad dish. Apologies for probably eating your entire stock of semifreddo...sooooo good!!! Again, they are all lovely. I am sure there are some that I have not mentioned but rest assured your kindness has been massively appreciated. Thank you to you all. See you next week. 😎
