"Not a typical Premier Inn"
We love a Premier Inn but not this one.. We had a room in the annexe which is in dire need of a refurb. The carpets need replacing throughout and our bathroom was run down and grubby. The bed was of the usual standard. No air con, just a fan. On the positive side, all the staff were welcoming and helpful.
"Value stay"
Great rate for a Sunday night stay, our room similar to upgraded room, one of our party stayed in. Rooms are quite warm, lowest temperature achieved was 19deg C, so open that window on arrival! Good night’s sleep, liked the purple toilet light and plenty of USB outlets in the room. The superior room of similar design also had an iron board, a Nespresso machine with 4 pods, 2 Green and Blacks mini chocolate bars, upgraded Wi-Fi and non wired phone charger pad by the bed. The upgraded room was only £5-10 more. There was some scaffolding outside the front of the hotel, but plenty of space to park. Reception staff were cheerful. We had a late start so had breakfast across the main road in the Tesco cafe.
"Premier Inn Barnstaple converts"
This was a sudden trip due to mum having stroke on holiday. We have become firm premier inn converts. Manager Vicki and team couldn't have been more helpful. WiFi connections excellent....partner needed to work. Bed very comfortable and additional pillows in room perfect for hiatus hernia. Ease of access to town centre and to hospital. Room pleasantly newly decorated.
"Very rundown, tired hotel with an overwhelming smell"
Massively disspapinted with a recent stay at this hotel. Came down to visit family and stayed 2 nights. When we arrived it was clear the hotel was run down from the outside and the carpark had building materials dumped in it. Upon checking in, the reception desk was run down and not very inviting. We stayed in the annex building which atleast did have a lift as the room was on the second floor however the hotel has a musky smell throughout the corridors which isn't pleasant. When getting to the room and opening the door the smell got 100x worse, it was this horrible stagnant smell as if the room had been flooded and just left for weeks. It was overbearing. Even when spraying to try and cover the smell it made vwry little difference. The room wasn't clean, along with the bathroom and the facilities in general were extremelly tired. For a hotel that cost over 200 pounds to stay in I would have expected something that atleast was habitable. Disspointed is an understatement and had a massive negative effect on our stay to visit family.
"Don’t do it!"
Worst hotel I have ever stayed in. Not the usual standard of a Premier Inn.. The family room we stayed in was unbearably hot, they have no air con and provide a family of 4 with 1 fan. We have never slept so badly. The shower was leaking. There were noises during the night when other people used the plumbing. The member of staff I raised the issues with in the morning was rude and condescending. They do not honour the “good nights sleep guarantee” unless you go and tell them in reception when you wake in the middle of the night with the issues, despite me not knowing how bad I was going to sleep until the next morning. The customer service from lady I spoke to in morning was almost as bad as the room! Avoid at all costs! It was also very dirty. We were in room 8.
