Barnstaple hotel

Stayed here many times before with no complaints. This time however was a different story. The hotel and staff were good but the restaurant was unbelievably bad. The food was ordered and was advised later that there was no fish available so a chose a different item. The food arrived and was appallingly tasteless. It was sent back and we were not charged. It was later discovered that Whitbread (the owners) are in the process of disposing of all their Premier Inn restaurants. It’s a shame they continue to trade as the staff are demoralised and who can blame them. As for the customers the company obviously don’t care.

The so called restaurant bar is a complete joke Friday night the food stopped serving 8:30 no food after a 5 hour drive so go out to a local MacDonald on return at 9:50 the bar is closed can’t sit a relax with a drink don’t stay here

Room and bed great. Breakfast awful. At breakfast the female member of staff was over whelmed, but did a fantastic job under the circumstances.

The hotel itself was fine but the restaurant and bar were disappointing. Premier Inn seem to be getting out of the restaurant business to focus purely on rooms. Unfortunately, this will make them little different from a Travelodge. I alway used Premier Inn because of having a good bar and restaurant on site. Now that will no longer be the case, I will be staying elsewhere.

Location good, the staff that were there were nice, but it was short staff, especially for the resturant for breakfast and evening meals, continental breakfast was not topped up and coffee machine was broken, you could get you a coffee but being short staff, it did take a while we had a full breakfast but the waiters had to take the orders , short staffed took a while, in the end we just had a continental it took that long when they did come to take order we were going. Evening meal was ok, but I did notice a woman returned hers 3 times because what she was getting was not stated on the menu. The rooms are clean you pay what you get, I would go back but I think I would probably just go across the road where they were 2 cafes where you could get breakfasts.
