Mansfield hotel

We stayed for a couple of nights while visiting family in the area. The room was clean and relatively quiet considering it is quite close to the M1. The bed was comfortable and there was a fan to help with the heatwave outside. Nice bath and shower. Check in was quick and easy and the staff were friendly and helpful. Ticked all the boxes, but could have done with a mini-fridge in the room.

When we told friends we had been booked in here on a business trip we were advised to tie the bottom of our trousers to our legs with our shoelaces! Sound words. It's a dive. Can was hit by a gang of feral lads as we drove in. Hottest day of year yet no air con in the rooms....any of the rooms. Corridors stank of faeces. Pubic hairs in the shower and bath and marks on the sheets. Would be very uncomfortable leaving a female colleague here alone. Surprisingly the breakfast was plentiful and varied and can't fault the tenacity and work ethic of the staff. But this place is jaded, dated and a tired shadow of what it must have been at its height. It's little more than a doss house for subbies and traveling sales folk. Handy location but unpleasant. Barely slept a wink in 48 hours.

Good location, rooms nice and clean although decor could do with a freshen up. Staff very helpful and pleasant. Big downside was no air conditioning, and I’m afraid fans in rooms were little more than useless just pushing hot air around the room, resulting in a poor nights sleep. Saturday night stays are definitely not VFM regardless of time of year.

Mandy was very welcoming, joyful and helpful. She was very attentive to our needs.

We have stayed in this hotel on numerous occasions over the years and always been very happy with the experience. On this occasion we stayed in room 61 which was a huge disappointment. It looked tired, had a dank odour, and all in all required a total refurbishment!
