"Basic but not cheap"
Stayed for one night. Room basic and bathroom floor could have been cleaner. Questionable marks on the toilet seat and lid. Room had all I needed for a night. Bed was comfortable and reception staff were friendly. Had to turn the room temp down to stop the heater coming on during the night as it made really loud noises. Very poor soundproofing from the room above - sounded like someone was running from one end of the room to the other at one point!
Breakfast next door was poor. Not refilled quickly and the last bits left under the lamps were stone cold. Eventually got a hot hash brown but absolutely nothing else was remotely warm, let alone hot. Glad I didn’t go for a meal during the evening. The signs about limited staff meaning you had to book (even a mid-week table for one!) put me off.
At about £140 for a night, it wasn’t great value for a basic product.

"Weekend let down"
Went to Whitehaven Premier Inn for another weekend, we always go there as the ladies in reception are fantastic, so helpful and friendly, can't do enough for you. We had booked the meal deals for the weekend, the 1st night, we were told by the girl at the front that we would have to wait an hour for our meal as the restaurant was full, (the restaurant was about a quarter full, not busy) we went in at 7.15pm and after over 1 and a half hours we got our meal, by the time we left the restaurant, it was 9.45pm. 2 girls serving and 1 lady bringing the meals out to customers. We had to pay extra as we were told we had upgraded the steak which was a lie and there was no choice of drinks with the meal. There was a man walking in and out of the restaurant all the time, we thought he was a customer but he turned out to be the chef. The desert looked like it was thrown together. The breakfast was good the following day, but again, that night, we had to wait over an hour again. There must have been a half a dozen tables in use. When we eventually got our meal, was asked if we wanted sauce, but they didn't return with any so we got it ourselves. We waited around 15 mins for desert, when we asked if it was coming the girl was rather abrupt with us. Again, thrown together. This morning, went to get breakfast only to see that we had a choice of beans and mushrooms. Another chef and the girl at the front were standing about the bar doing nothing. I asked the girl if they were bringing any food out and she looked shocked and said she didn't know there was nothing there. Everyone was walking round to see if there was anything coming out too. This is a very good hotel but the restaurant and it's staff are letting it down. Needs a complete review of it's staff, and employ people who are conscientious of their environment and make customers feel welcome. As I say, you cannot ask for better reception ladies

"Weekend let down"
We went to the Premier Inn for another, what should have been another lovely weekend, and as always, the ladies at Reception were fantastic, very friendly, helpful and couldnt do enough for you. There is never a problem with anyone who is behind the desk. We had booked a meal deal for the 2 nights that we were there,
We went down to dinner on the 1st night, to be told that we would have to wait an hour for our meal as the restaurant was full, ( on looking around, we noticed that it wasnt even half full) We went down for dinner at 7.15pm and after being charged on top of our meal deal as we had ' upgraded the steak' which we hadnt, no choice of drinks on the deal too. We waited and waited, well past 1 hour and noticed that there were only 2 young girls waiting on. A man kept walking in and out of the hotel and we thought he was a customer, wrong!, he turned out to be the chef. We finally had our meal and left the restaurant at 9.35pm.
The breakfast the following day was actually very good so we thought that the night before must have been a one off, how wrong were we! we ordered our meal and the staff tried to charge more again only this time we said no, no choice of drink with the meal, and again, we waited over an hour to get our main meal, there were roughly half a dozen tables, was asked if we wanted any sauces and i said yes, the staff member didnt return so we got our own, when we had finished we waited again and when we asked if we could have our desert, the staff member was a bit abrupt with us, This gets worse, went into breakfast this morning, a different chef and the girl at the front were standing at the bar relaxing, and had a choice of mushrooms and
beans, i asked if they were bringing any food out and the girl at the front looked shocked and they hadnt realised there was nothing on the servery, This has been a very disappointing visit to the hotel that we go to on lots of occasions and apart from the reception staff who excelled themselves, if not for them, we would not return, I might add that we were not the only ones to complain as a family too had to complain and took the food back to the bar. We really hope that this hotel will not close as it has been there for years without problems but they really need to review their staff in the restaurant to keep this at the same standard as the hotel.

"Horrible experience."
Upon arrival, we were allocated a family room directly overlooking the designated smoking area. The noise and strong smell of cigarette smoke made the room unsuitable, particularly as we were travelling with children. I requested to be moved that evening; however, the member of staff on reception was unhelpful and unable to offer any assistance. As a result, we had no option but to remain in that room overnight.
We were eventually moved to a different room the following day, but this room also had a strong smell of cigarette smoke, which again made for an uncomfortable stay and was not appropriate for our children’s health.
More seriously, while in the new room, the curtain rail came loose and fell, striking my 9-year-old daughter. Although she was not seriously injured, the incident was extremely distressing and raised serious concerns about the room’s safety standards. We reported the matter to staff at the time, yet no action or follow-up was taken.
Since returning home, I have contacted Premier Inn Customer Services on several occasions seeking a resolution. I was informed that complaints must be submitted within a few days of departure; however, given the nature of the issues experienced — particularly the safety incident — I find this response wholly inadequate.
Hotel management said they would get back to me. This is why I didn't raise the concern straight away with Customer service. However this has left me out of pocket
