"Poor Experience at Kendal Central"
After many years of staying in Premier Inn hotels, I have had varying experiences but in most instances the room was clean and facilities acceptable. Food is basic but usually edible. On this occasion there was no hot water, so we were moved to another room, but the water was again a problem in the morning. There was a drainage smell from the second rooms shower. Towels missing and only one pillow each. Ventilation system was noisy and impossible to adjust, couldn’t open windows so had a poor night’s sleep. Breakfast was of the usual - cheap ingredients and poorly cooked. The evening meal was just acceptable, but the service was poor in respect of dealing with my wife's dietary needs - she is coeliac. The staff relied upon a folder of allergy information which was handed to us to read. The information was different to the QR code info on the menu. The reteraunt was dirty and run-down, we learned that it was due a refurb but this had been postponed. We had great difficulty in making a complaint and were directed to the Premier Inn Customer Service Team. Customer services were difficult to communicate with and I struggled with the operatives strong accent. Eventually, we recieved a full refund. My experience is such that a stay at a Premier Inn will only be booked if nothing else is available.
"Gone downhill"
Premier inn are never glamorous but they get the job done but this one had rapidly gone downhill since our stay one year ago. We paid for the premier plus room like last year but this one was not worth the extra money. Hairdryer didnt work, mould in the light up mirror, mould in the shower, light with no bulb in it, toilet roll holder missing, hooks on back of bathroom door missing. Staff were useless and unbothered. Asked for our room to be cleaned, didnt happen. Its a good location as we visit to see friends who live a 2 minute walk away but i can’t see us booking here again next year after this stay.
"I’ve stayed in Premier Inns up and down the country travelling with my kids sports events. Worst Premier Inn ever"
A very comfortable bed if you’re looking for good food don’t go there go somewhere else if you’d like to fish and chips. The batter is very greasy probably undercooked my son didn’t eat it waste of money breakfast very poor It looked like he’d been sat out too long and when you asked, have you got this or that We’ve got the same reply. Sorry we run out of that The bath wasn’t clean on the sink still had leftovers where somebody had been shaving
"Not cheap enough to be this poor quality"
This isn't a cheap hotel, but they act like one. The WiFi is deliberately bad (actively traffic shaped) to try to get you to pay more for the premium package, the air conditioning doesn't work, you have to pay extra to get a room that doesn't open up onto loud industrial equipment, and the breakfast is worse than you're expecting even by cheap hotel standards. At half the price this would be the sort of thing you'd expect, but they're charging like they're a moderately decent hotel rather than the bare minimum.
"Three Weeks Well Spent – A Great Solo Stay at Premier Inn"
I stayed at the Premier Inn for about three weeks as part of a solo trip, and overall, I had a very pleasant experience. During this time, I stayed in a few different rooms, so I feel confident sharing a detailed review. Rooms & Comfort: The beds and mattresses are extremely comfortable — a definite highlight of my stay. The rooms are spacious. I would rate cleanliness 4,5/5, as I did notice some spiderwebs in the corners of the bedrooms in each room I stayed in. Staff & Service: The staff were fantastic — very friendly and always helpful. I would give the team a solid 5/5. Special mention goes to the lovely lady at breakfast, whose kindness and attentiveness deserve a 10/10. The dinner staff were also very warm and welcoming. Room 101: I particularly enjoyed my last room, number 101. It had a lovely view, and the bathroom was accessible and included a bath — another 10/10 experience. Areas for Improvement: There are two things that could be improved: Wi-Fi: In some areas of the hotel, especially room 10, there was no internet connection at all. This was quite frustrating at times, so I would kindly suggest reviewing the Wi-Fi coverage throughout the property. Dinner Menu: As a small suggestion, please consider adding mashed potatoes to the dinner menu. At the moment, the only available side options are skin-on chips and rice. Variety would definitely be appreciated! Food & Drinks: The food was generally very good. I especially enjoyed the burgers — the new Katsu burger is one of the best I’ve had. Desserts were ok; my favourite was the Banoffee cheesecake. Final Thoughts: All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and would happily recommend Premier Inn to others. Thank you for the hospitality!
