"Would recommend."
Was in Kendal for my son's wedding. Had a lovely stay with friendly, helpful staff. Can't think of a negative thing to say.
"Poor service overall, felt very basic and uncared fir"
We've stayed at this hotel before about 6 years ago and standards have dropped since then. I don't know whether it's a management issue or higher up the chain? It felt very understaffed everywhere. Breakfast was a very depressing experience, hardly any staff some days, food was left to run out and we had to keep asking for basic items. Tables were not cleared and there was a couldn't care less attitude. The coffee machine was broken for 2 days and probably still is! The standard of cooked food was very poor. The rooms were tired. We had a Premier plus room and there were hooks missing in the bathroom and grouting not particularly clean and the fan was full of fluff. Cobwebs in the bedroom and some dust. The bed was ok. It was very noisy from traffic and the outlook was of a building site. The air conditioning was temperamental. Our friends were in an accessible room and the bed was so soft they couldn't sleep. Christine on reception and everywhere did her best for us. Training is needed and a more helpful response. Parking is chargeable and you have to pay each time you leave the car park. Premier inns in different locations are variable standards but most seem to be understaffed and overpriced now A positive was the central location. The negative was how many 'out of order' signs were around the place. Sadly we won't stay here again.
"Ok stay made worse by double billing"
Beware. I prepaid my booking through Expedia but when I checked in I was told I had to pay because I hadn’t prepaid. Over a week later this hotel is refusing to refund my double payment. Expedia is still attempting to obtain my refund from this hotel.
"Poor Experience at Kendal Central"
After many years of staying in Premier Inn hotels, I have had varying experiences but in most instances the room was clean and facilities acceptable. Food is basic but usually edible. On this occasion there was no hot water, so we were moved to another room, but the water was again a problem in the morning. There was a drainage smell from the second rooms shower. Towels missing and only one pillow each. Ventilation system was noisy and impossible to adjust, couldn’t open windows so had a poor night’s sleep. Breakfast was of the usual - cheap ingredients and poorly cooked. The evening meal was just acceptable, but the service was poor in respect of dealing with my wife's dietary needs - she is coeliac. The staff relied upon a folder of allergy information which was handed to us to read. The information was different to the QR code info on the menu. The reteraunt was dirty and run-down, we learned that it was due a refurb but this had been postponed. We had great difficulty in making a complaint and were directed to the Premier Inn Customer Service Team. Customer services were difficult to communicate with and I struggled with the operatives strong accent. Eventually, we recieved a full refund. My experience is such that a stay at a Premier Inn will only be booked if nothing else is available.
"Gone downhill"
Premier inn are never glamorous but they get the job done but this one had rapidly gone downhill since our stay one year ago. We paid for the premier plus room like last year but this one was not worth the extra money. Hairdryer didnt work, mould in the light up mirror, mould in the shower, light with no bulb in it, toilet roll holder missing, hooks on back of bathroom door missing. Staff were useless and unbothered. Asked for our room to be cleaned, didnt happen. Its a good location as we visit to see friends who live a 2 minute walk away but i can’t see us booking here again next year after this stay.
