Kendal Central hotel

Centrally located and very close to local shops and range of eating places. Quiet place. Good sized bedrooms and excellent quality mattress so good quality of sleep. Parking on site is currently not fully available due to some renovation work.

Stayed here for work; the parking is minimal so be prepared to walk’200 yards’ to park in a public carpark. The room was the standard Premier Inn Plus room, however as a woman travelling on her own, it was thoughtless putting me in one of the rooms farthest away from reception. However the restaurant was delightful, it looked newly refurbished and Hazel & Rose were so attentive, it really made a difference to my experience.

The hotel in Kendal itself was excellent and the staff were amazing but we had 2 issues the first was with food at the hotel, we had to wait an hour and a half after ordering, it came out lukewarm and with salad and flat bread missing, Megan who was serving behind the bar, taking peoples orders and also taking food out to the tables as well as all the clearing up was amazing, she really did amazingly well being absolutely rushed off her feet and still being pleasant. They also kept running out of items from the menu, one of us had to change our order 3 times! And poor Megan was continually having to tell people they had run out of what they had requested. The other issue we had was trying to make contact with the hotel as we couldn’t find it nor the parking space. I tried to call but it said they were too busy to answer, I tried the live chat, the AI kept asking same question and giving the same info and although I clicked on no it wasn’t helpful, it went through the same procedure 4 times before putting through to a real person. And he gave the same info, I explained I had all that but couldn’t find the parking space so we could go in search of the hotel, he said to phone the hotel, I explained that I couldn’t get through, I had tried twice, he said he could do no more and wished me safe travels and cut off so we felt completely left in limbo! We eventually found a lovely local who knew the car park, all the signs were covered over with greenery from the stone wall which surrounded it, and sat bag had taken us close but as I say we couldn’t see any signs until we went into this small car park which looked like a private car park to the building in front of it! Once we had parked we found the hotel, not quite where we had thought but found it, and as I say the hotel itself was very nice and staff lovely but clearly not enough staff on and a very frustrating and upsetting experience prior to finding it, and arriving at 5 pm on Sunday, there was not many people or places open to ask either.

Excellent service, very friendly staff, lovely food, would definitely recommend.

Great stay had a meal deal which is good value. Chris and Hazel were attentive and welcoming as well as serving.
