Kendal Central hotel

There is building work going on at the Kendal Premier Inn, with no car parking and no food. Doubly annoying as we booked with the free breakfast offer. We complained to reception, who gave us the phone number for guest services. Guest services told us to speak to the duty manager, who told us that they couldn't do anything and directed us back to guest services! To add insult to injury, we were woken at 3am by something banging close to our room. I dressed and complained and a receptionist investigated. The banging stopped, only to start again at 5.30am. The builders then started at 7.30am. I could go on, but the message is don't come here until all the building work is well and truly completed.

Great location in Kendal. Comfy bed, clean room, good lighting and sufficient space for two. Friendly staff. Free continental breakfast option to counter balance the works on site and hence lack of parking was a nice touch. Note that not all rooms are accessible by lift so check with reception if you are trying to avoid stairs. (If works are still underway or car park full use the Busher Walk car park by the police station/ council building)

Booked in January, paid for breakfast at time of booking and turned up for our stay to find no car park, (bank holiday weekend and no external work being done) no restaurant and staff completely over whelmed as customers were supposed to have been notified by email and refunded for the breakfasts and we’ve had no email or refund so now got to fight to get that back. The website is still advertising a restaurant and the information about the car park is in very small print under the room information once you book and not when you are first looking it needs to be a lot clearer on the website! Nearest car park 5-10 min walk away over a busy road. Room not the best and very poor signage to find it too, they need a freshen up and some maintenance our shower leaked making the bathroom hazardous. Premier Inn do yourselves a favour and close the whole site whilst you refurb it’s not fair on customers or your staff for the grief they’re getting and this was at the start of the summer !

Such a poor experience staying at this premier inn. Notified after booking that hotel was undergoing renovations but was not made aware of how limited services would be and feel that price should have reflected this. Paid £136 for one night. Onsite car park was shut which was a massive inconvenience when travelling with a small child when you have to travel with multiple bags/pram etc. No restaurant facilities for breakfast. A hot drink and pastry offered at door! Not acceptable for children. We asked for a travel cot on booking and when we arrived (already flustered after trying to find a car park space almost 10 minutes away!) there was no travel cot. No phone in room to call reception so had to go down to ask for one. When cot was brought up, the mattress was rock solid and not suitable for a small baby to sleep on. Just overall really poor experience and if this level of work is ongoing in hotel guests should not be paying standard pricing! £136 for a less than satisfactory stay.
