"avoid brewers fayre"
The hotel is great as where the staff, however the staff next door in the brewers fayre were not, I will never be spending my money in Brewers Fayre again, they do not make you feel welcome and want to shut the bar early as they want to go home , they dont care about there customers, such a bad attitude, i am waiting to speak to someone higher up to raise my concerns, we were lied to by a member of staff telling us the bar shuts at 10pm every night, which is not true it shuts at 11pm, some people should not be in hospitality, I have stayed at this hotels about 6 times i think i will be looking at other hotels in the future, such a shame as the hotel staff are great
"Not enough breakfast"
Comfortable bed and a good nights sleep. The room was clean. It is in a nice location. They ran out of food at breakfast and wouldn’t bring anymore out when we asked. I know the hotel was full but they should accommodate enough breakfast for everyone.
"Nice stay in Cockermouth"
Nice Premier Plus room. Could not here any noise from corridor or other rooms on 2nd floor. Great bathroom and shower/hair products. Would stay again.
"Nice but hot as heck"
Nice hotel & restaurant, food was satisfactory and lots of options, mini fridge was also a nice touch, but the room was absolutely roasting. Tried the air con but was super loud and not very effective. Nice staff & facilities (except for aircon) though.
"A Disappointing Experience with Poor Follow-Up at a Hotel We’ve Always Enjoyed"
Pending review Reviewed We've stayed at Premier Inn Cockermouth several times over the years and have always had really positive experiences—until our most recent visit on 25th May 2025, which left us very disappointed. After a long 350-mile round trip from London, we arrived late in the evening and were greeted by Liam at reception. He was absolutely brilliant—friendly, helpful, and professional—even when things began to go wrong. We were given Room 11, but the moment we walked in we were hit with a powerful smell of bleach or cleaning fluid. It was overwhelming, and with the window jammed shut, there was no way to air out the room. My wife, who suffers from asthma, immediately began coughing and showing symptoms, and with two young children with us, we quickly realised staying in the room was not an option. Liam was understanding and sympathetic, but explained that no alternative rooms were available. He also mentioned that a similar issue had occurred just a few days earlier, which was frustrating to hear—it suggested the problem hadn’t been resolved properly. With nowhere else to go, we were forced to leave the hotel around 10:30pm and drive over two hours back home, finally arriving after 12:30am. We had to cancel our plans for the following morning, including breakfast and a kayaking trip, and what was meant to be a nice weekend away turned into a long drive for just a pub meal. What made matters worse was the follow-up. I emailed the hotel manager, Carl, the very next morning as advised—but received no acknowledgement at all. Four days passed with no contact, which was really disappointing. I had hoped the issue could have been rectified quickly, but instead I ended up having to call Premier Inn Customer Relations myself. They processed a refund for the room—but almost referred to as a goodwill gesture, which felt frustrating given the circumstances. And even that refund will take over a week to arrive. This was truly a one-off at a hotel we've previously enjoyed, but the lack of communication and slow resolution made the situation even more frustrating. I hope the hotel takes steps to improve how they handle guest issues going forward. Special thanks again to Liam, who was the only real positive in an otherwise poor experience.
