Carlisle M6 Jct44 hotel

If you are looking for a good night's sleep where you don't bake to death in 27 deg heat (no air conditioning) you'd be better off cadging a night at Haverigg Prison down the road. Awful smelly place with hardly any staff and inedible food. If you're looking for something really cheap - you'll certainly get it at this dump. Avoid and spend a few more quid.

We just stayed one night on our way south. Very convenient from the motorway. Quick check in, remember to register your car registration number to avoid a fine. Plenty of parking. Our double room was on the first floor. From Reception you have to go down half a dozen steps to the go up a flight of stairs for the first floor. There is a chair lift from Reception down the few steps, you need to consider this if you have mobility issues or have small children. It was exceptionally hot, our room registered 30C, even though the window was open ( restricted opening) and the curtains had been closed prior to us arriving. There was an oscillating fan in the room, which helped move the air around but didn’t cool the room. Comfortable bed, strong shower, tea & coffee and T.V. We had booked our evening meal by email as I had read that it is necessary to avoid being disappointed. Glad we had as they were turning guests away. Food was good but service was on the slow side but that wasn’t an issue for us as we weren’t going anywhere! Breakfast was buffet and food was topped up regularly. We had the Meal Deal which is excellent value. Apart from the weather being very hot, you can’t do anything about the weather, we would definitely stay here again.

The room was comfortable, reasonably clean and there was no noise from outside once we closed the window. The cups needed a rinse off before we could use them and the teaspoon handles were sticky! Breakfast was excellent. Dinner the night before was ok-ish. The service was rather slow and several items from the main menu were not available.

Horribly hot room. Unable to sleep. The man on reception next morning asked me if everything was ok and when I explained that I’d had very little sleep due to the heat he looked like he couldn’t care less and said “we can’t do anything about the weather”. Absolutely unacceptable response to my complaint. And STRANGELY I didn’t receive an email from Premier Inn asking for feedback on my stay. HOW BIZARRE.

The hotel is very convenient for a stopover on the M6 while driving to Scotland. The staff are helpful. It is an ugly building on the outside. We had booked a standard room downstairs overlooking the rear car park. The price was reasonable but unfortunately it was grubby, especially the carpets, and the hotel needs refurbished.
