"Premier Inn Standards Have Fallen Off a Cliff"
We have stayed at Premier Inn many times over the years and have always regarded it as a reliable choice. Unfortunately, this stay was nowhere near the standard we have previously experienced.
The room was dirty, the shower was extremely poor, and the restaurant was a major disappointment, with around half of the menu unavailable, including a number of drinks.
The staff were pleasant and appeared to be doing their best, so the criticism is not aimed at them. The bigger concern is that this felt like a hotel being run without the resources needed to maintain the standards Premier Inn customers are paying for.
For the price charged, the overall experience was unacceptable. Premier Inn appears to be charging more while delivering less, and if this is now representative of the direction the brand is taking, it risks losing long-standing customers.
Very disappointing and certainly not the Premier Inn we have come to know and expect.

"Good budget hotel"
Nice budget hotel. Clean, good bed, convenient location (on my way to Edinburgh).

"Very comfy and clean, however hotel needs updating"
Stopped overnight on our trip from Inverness to Manchester. Great location easy to find off the motorway yet not noisy.
Outside of the Premier Inn and Beefeater looked old and tired. In need of an update.
Pleasant reception staff. We were a family of 4 in one room. Beds were what you expect from a Premier Inn - very comfortable mattress and lovely soft sheets, we slept really well. Shower was good power and temperature. Room could do with a repaint.
We had breakfast at the Beefeater next door. Kids eat free with paying adult. We thought the food was good and good value for money.
Would definitely stay again.

"Inconvenience unnecessary"
I had booked and paid for my stay several weeks earlier, and had received my final invoice by email from Premier Inn. The final invoice and my payment forms a contract, where Premier Inn is obliged to provide the services I had been invoiced and paid for.
My arrival was on Sunday evening, after driving 300 miles. I was tired and just needed to relax. Imagine my surprise at being told I could not check in without paying £1. I did not take my wallet to reception and could not do so. The receptionist could not tell me why I had to pay £1, only she would not let me check in. I explained that I had already paid everything in advance. She got angry and paid the £1 herself.
This was an unpleasant experience and rather a confrontation. She suggested it may have been because I had paid £10.99 for breakfast, when in fact it was now £11.99. I said that I had already paid for breakfast, and I had done so when it was £10.99, so i am not interested in what has been increased since.
I was surprised to see the signs at the restaurant showing it was in fact £10.99. Not sure why this £1 should be necessary, and I am not upset by a mere £1, it is more the principle, and the inconvenience necessary for just £1.
That aside, the room was OK, although hot. My stay was just OK.
