Carlisle Central hotel

Location - good. Easily accessible from motorway. Room - Very basic with no frill room amenities, including no telephone in bedrooms. Carpark not well lit & therefore compromised sense of safely. Staff customer service - atrocious. Lacking in every way imaginable. Hotel facilities - non existent. Restaurant remained shut though out stay. Luckily there was a Toby Carvery within a 15 min walk & a Lidl supermarket within 5. Would not stay there again or would I recommend it to others.

I have stayed in a few Premier Inns but this one was alarming from the outside. It is two buildings with one particularly rundown looking from the outside. The main building wasn’t much more encouraging. Had it not been for a few cars parked I would have thought it had closed down. One building has a lift, one doesn’t. I had no luck phoning to hotel to try to ensue I booked the one with the lift however Whitbread have an Accessibility team who sorted this for me and gave me good notifications so I was secure about that. The actual entrance could be made more obvious. The receptionist appeared promptly and was mannerable. The reception area was dismal and off-putting. The corridors slightly better. However our room was a relief and that was the important part so maybe a refurb programme has been started concentrating on the rooms first. The room was very clean. Well furnished with furniture looking new. Plenty of seating. Usual great range of lighting for whether you want restful or for reading. There was a small fridge and a coffee machine. Heating controls were very easy to use. The room price was extremely low. We had booked breakfast, one full one continental. The passage there was totally internal with none of the partial cold areas in others, or wrestling with heavy doors in high winds. The attendant checked whether we wished a porridge option. We didn’t but for those who did good it would be made fresh. The toaster was a ‘normal’ toaster although it was just as slow as usual contraption. In general, breakfast as expected. I liked that I could select a pot of tea rather than have to go for refill. Also the water for tea was nice and hot which isn’t always the case with machines. So once I got past the outward appearance, I had an excellent room (bed a bit hard for me but not hotel’s fault) and an acceptable breakfast , and all for less than half the price I am paying for room only at a different Premier Inn later this month.

A very comfy stay and a good breakfast, perfectly situated for our needs. I would highly recommend as it is very convenient for the M6 .

We love the stay! Comfortable room, excellent service, super easy to check in and check out. Restaurant for dinner and very good breakfast.

We were a group of 21 staying at this Premier Inn to attend a local function . We were allocated room 307 which was “ adequate “ Reception area is very small with just 2 chairs . Bar /restaurant didn’t open until 5pm .Then sadly it had closed at 10pm so nowhere for group to congregate at 10.15 pm return . We are aware Premier Inn are outsourcing bar and dining facilities but at minimum make clear timings for each premises. We would have stayed elsewhere had we known unable to meet as a group. We opted not to stay for breakfast so can’t comment on this. We wouldn’t stay there again .
