"Quick trip to carlisle"
Building a bit run down looking but very clean and comfortable. Staff at reception very pleasant. No rush to checkout next morning.
Evening meal was excellent, staff helpful and food very good. Reasonably well priced.
Breakfast was a different experience. Staff had no hospitality skills, no conversation or even a smile. Unlimited Breakfast, we were asked if we wanted 1 or 2 of everything didnt feel like you could ask for more. Informed that no black pudding. Poached eggs solid, fried eggs too runny. Ruined a nice stay.

"Overnight stop"
Staff were extremely helpful and very friendly. The hotel is slightly tired and could do with a bit of an uplift but our room was quiet and comfortable.

Staff were friendly, but hotel was noisy and breakfast was dire. Instant coffee at breakfast - really. Hotel is pretty tired too.

Whether you're strolling along Carlisle high street, or stomping along High Street Fell, there's plenty to distract you here. Some visitors come to buy livestock at the Harrison & Hetherington auction market, others to spend time on Hadrian's Wall. Every September there's the Tour of Britain cycle race too. Then it's time to unclip from the pedals and unwind back at the hotel with our extra-comfy beds and a delicious meal at the restaurant next to us.
