Durham East hotel

Convenient location but the hotel is shabby and our room wasn’t very clean at all. We had a towel that had a large area covered in a shocking pink substance - perhaps either lipstick or nail varnish. When I raised this with reception the receptionist didn’t apologise and simply provided a replacement. The wash basin wasn’t clean and there was a huge cobweb over the bed that was illuminated very well by the light and obviously that area hadn’t been touched by a duster for quite some time! I raised these matters with a different receptionist and she said she would log a complaint. She also said she would refund the charge for premium WiFi and I am still waiting for this nearly a month later. Further, I’ve not heard anything from about my complaint so have had to raise separately. So in summary , shabby , dirty in some places and apathetic staff. Not somewhere I would care to stay ever again.

Just needed a roof for the night and a place to sleep, this particular branch of the hotel chain was well positioned, easy to find, quiet. Check-in was very smooth and simple, logging onto the Wi-Fi was equally simple. There was just nothing to complain about really. The local amenities are a little bit lacking, particularly the restaurant next-door, but that’s nothing to do with the hotel these days

Room and welcome excellent. What lets this place down is the food and service in the Beefeater next door. Dinner was very poorly cooked and presented, the service was slow and difficult to find a server. The cooked breakfast here is “made to order” and not a hot buffet as at most places, but the bacon had obviously been standing around for an extended period and the quality of ingredients very poor. Would not recommend eating here at all.

Great place to stay at a reasonable price just outside of Durham which is an easy 5 minute drive away. The hotel is clean and comfortable with friendly helpful staff. There is a large free car park. The hotel is quiet at night.

The premier inn is very tired it needs some TLC. But as always the staff, bed and food is always consistently good. I always stay in a Premier Inn when I can as they are normally so consistent
